Covenant proximity mine
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

The proximity mine is a Covenant landmine. The grenade has a similar appearance to a Covenant Chershi-pattern antimatter charge.[1] After being set off, the mine fires a series of needler projectiles in all directions.[2]
Usage[edit]
During Operation: FIRESIDE, Taylor Miles and Kojo Agu threw one of these explosives at a group of Unggoy. The Unggoy, not realizing the device wasn't armed, panicked and fled into a corridor rigged with laser traps which sliced them to pieces.[1] They were also used by the Covenant during the Battle of Mombasa, and by Jul 'Mdama's Covenant during the Battle of Installation 03 and New Phoenix Incident.[2]
In-game information[edit]
Halo: Spartan Strike[edit]
The Proximity Mine appears as an armor ability in Halo: Spartan Strike as a map pickup and the default armor ability of Brute Chieftains. When used by the player, it drops three mines which then seek out nearby targets before detonating. The detonation releases blamite projectiles in the region around the mine. When used by NPCs, Proximity Mines perform the exact same way, though they only drop one mine.[2]
