The Kig-Yar Storm is the lowest ranking class of Kig-Yar in Jul 'Mdama's Covenant faction. They fill virtually the same role the Kig-Yar Minor did in the original Covenant. They are given a combat harness identical to the Kig-Yar Minors; the only difference is that the harness also comes in a red variant, a turquoise variant, and an orange variant. Their Kig-Yar point defense gauntlets are also purple, rather than turquoise like their Minor counterparts.

Like their Minor counterparts in the original Covenant, Kig-Yar Storms are relatively easy to defeat by using a precision weapon such as the Covenant carbine or the DMR to aim between the gaps in their point defense gauntlets. They can also be easily brought down using an overcharged plasma pistol shot to the shield, followed by a precision headshot. At close range, they can be killed with one or two melee strikes.

Function:

Ground assault, defense, recon

Species:

Kig-Yar (Ibie'shan)

Affiliation:

Covenant

Storm was an infrequent specialist combat role for Kig-Yar serving in the Covenant, and later became widespread among the various Covenant remnants, acting as shock troopers.[1][2][3]

Description[edit]

While Kig-Yar Storm were shock troops in the original Covenant, post-war they fill virtually the same role as Kig-Yar Minors.

Equipment[edit]

The Kig-Yar Storm combat harness can be found in red, turquoise, and orange. Their Kig-Yar point defense gauntlets are purple. During the Battle of Requiem and the Requiem Campaign Kig-Yar Storm commonly fielded Type-25 plasma pistols and Type-33 needlers,[4] while sometimes using Mosa-pattern carbines.[5] By October 2558, Storm units had switched to the Type-54D plasma pistol and Type-56D needler as their primary weapons.[6]

Gameplay[edit]

Kig-Yar Storm are relatively easy to defeat by using a precision weapon such as the Vostu-pattern carbine or the M395 DMR to aim between the gaps in their point defense gauntlets. They can also be easily brought down using an overcharged Type-25 plasma pistol shot to the shield, followed by a precision headshot. At close range, they can be killed with one or two melee strikes.
