Joseph-122 was a SPARTAN-II supersoldier of the UNSC Naval Special Warfare Command.[3]
Biography[edit]
Conscription[edit]
Joseph was abducted and conscripted into the SPARTAN-II program by Dr. Catherine Halsey in 2517 when he was just six years old. He was then taken to the planet Reach, and trained by the AI Déjà and CPO Mendez, along with the rest of the Spartan children. In 2525, he and the other candidates underwent a series of augmentations to improve their abilities. Joseph was among the ones that survived and were not crippled or killed by the procedure.
Escape[edit]
A few weeks after the augmentation procedures, Joseph along with Daisy-023, Ralph-103, Oscar-129, and one other Spartan rebelled against their trainers, holding them at gunpoint in front of Dr. Halsey in order to let them leave. Halsey granted them freedom, and they escaped the training facility, hoping to return home to their parents. Joseph however, was caught by the UNSC shortly after their escape.[3]
Fall of Reach[edit]
In 2552, Joseph was preparing with the other remaining SPARTAN-IIs for Operation: RED FLAG on Reach, a risky and desperate attempt to end the Human-Covenant War by capturing a Covenant ship and using it to kidnap a San'Shyuum to force peace negotiations. The operation was cancelled when Reach was attacked by the Covenant, causing the SPARTANs to divide their numbers: Blue Team, compromised of John-117, Linda-058 and James-005, would head to Gamma Station and wipe all data onboard the Prowler UNSC Circumference, while the others, comprising Red Team, would defend the generators powering Reach's Orbital defense platforms. Joseph would board Pelican Bravo 001, but the Pelican was shot down by Covenant Seraphs and the SPARTANs were forced to eject. Joseph was among the SPARTANs killed by the impact, along with Malcolm-059, Carris-137 and Kirk-018. [1]
