Forerunner energy conduit
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Energy conduits are a kind of power generation structure designed by the Forerunners. They can be used to power various forms of technology such as Covenant Ra'aam-pattern burst cannons. In the Requiem Campaign in February 2558, Jul 'Mdama's Covenant used six such conduits to power three Ra'aam cannons operating as artillery in the vicinity of "Cyclone". As such, Fireteam Crimson were deployed to the region where they destroyed the cores and the artillery.[1]
The energy conduits appear to be constructed of smartmatter, similar to armigers and Promethean Knights. They consist of several distinct circular layers which rotate in place similar to the design of an arum. As damage is taken, the smartmatter carapaces ablate, eventually exposing the inner core, which can be destroyed by a handheld firearm. When used to power artillery pieces, the conduits heat up during the weapon's firing.[1]
