Criterion is a human colony world in the Taurus system.[1]
History[edit]
Rise of humanity[edit]
Criterion was colonized in 2388.[1]
Human-Covenant War[edit]
It was attacked by the Covenant near the end of the Human-Covenant War in 2552.[1] It was defended by both the UNSC Army and the Marine Corps. Gabriel Thorne, then serving in the Army, participated in the battle, during which he single-handedly saved his entire platoon.[3]
After hijacking a Covenant Spirit to exfiltrate from Imber, ODSTs Staff Sergeant Malcolm Geffen, Corporal Vasily Beloi, and Emanuel Barakat left the dropship on Criterion. In 2553, while selling an MA5B assault rifle to an arms dealer on Venezia, Vasily wondered if the Spirit was still there.[4]
Postwar[edit]
By 2560, the planet was in the process of rebuilding. Around this time, a group of insurrectionists attacked a reconstruction convoy bound for the planet. It was also cut off from the wider Unified Earth Government.[2]
Government[edit]
By 2560, the planet was still part of the Unified Government. The Colonial Administration Authority Marshals were a law enforcement agency policing the world.[2]
