India Company, contingents of which have also at times been referred to as Fire Team India[3] or Recon Team India[1], is a unit of the United Nations Space Command Marine Corps.
History
In early 2531, India Company was assigned to the UNSC Spirit of Fire, a refitted Phoenix-class support vessel attached to the UNSC Navy's Third Fleet. On February 4 of that year the ship arrived at Harvest in the Epsilon Indi system with intent to survey the situation on the planet and to aid the Template:UNSCship, a Marathon-class heavy cruiser that had been crippled in battle with the Covenant's Fleet of Glorious Interdiction. Fire Team India was among four marine units that were scrambled to board the Prophecy in the midst of an ongoing fight with a few Covenant ships. All together, fire teams India, Echo, Lima, and November were able to successfully purge the navigation database of the Prophecy and rescue those survivors that remained aboard, though these all died shortly thereafter as a result of radiation poisoning contracted during time spent on the damaged ship.[3]
Later that month, on February 23, a small group of marines from the company were designated "Recon Team India" and deployed to the out surface of a mysterious world the Spirit of Fire had followed the CPV-class heavy destroyer Proclamation's Tithe to. Just over a month later, Captain James Cutter authorized India Company to reinforce Sunray 1-1, an elite team of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers from Boomerang Company, during Operation: SPEARBREAKER.[2] On May 1, the marines fought the forces of the Banished and Forerunner sentinel constructs on Installation 00 during the operation. With help from Sunray 1-1, they were able to prevent the Mgalekgolo pair known as Colony from launching a Forerunner Despair-class fighter at the Spirit of Fire.[4]
