Corvette is a warship classification that was used by the Covenant, before the empire's collapse in 2552.[1] The Covenant employed corvettes for a wide array of functions. They are used for stealth, intelligence gathering, and escort.[1] Historically, they were often responsible for surveying Forerunner artifact sites and for the deployment of small artifact-retrieval teams to elude any local defensive measures.[1]

During the Human-Covenant War, corvettes were utilized by the Covenant in front-line combat roles as well as long-range reconnaissance of potential naval staging areas and colonies.
