Design details

Main article: M12B Warthog

Unlike many other Warthog variants, the Armored Warthog is an upgrade created by the AI Isabel for the crew of the stranded UNSC Spirit of Fire in response to a completely new battlefield problem presented by the Banished and their ruthlessly brutal arsenal, Isabel has assisted the crew of the Spirit of Fire in using available resources to create up-armored variants of the Warthog to deploy and particularly adverse circumstances.[1]

The Armored Warthog boasts significantly upgraded armor plating around the body of the vehicle, and a much larger shield protecting the operator of the vehicle's armament. Currently-observed vehicles have been seen in a Light Reconnaissance Vehicle configuration, sporting an M46 Vulcan chaingun. The vehicle also has larger towbars around the front and four large headlights on the top of the vehicle.[2]

Operational history

The Armored Warthog was employed by the forces of the Spirit of Fire during the Second Ark Conflict in 2559.[1]

Gameplay

The Armored Warthog is a unit available in the Blitz mode of Halo Wars 2. As such, it can only be employed in Blitz and Blitz Firefight gamemodes. It is exclusively available to players playing as Isabel.

The Armored Warthog Blitz card has the following attributes;

  • Rarity: Uncommon
  • Cost to deploy: 80
  • Guard: This unit covers nearby allies, receiving all damage they would normally take.

The Armored Warthog is classed as a Core Vehicle, and performs well against Infantry, Vehicles and Aircraft.

Trivia

  • Whenever this vehicle has been hijacked, the Spartan doesn't appear anywhere on the vehicle.
