The Springhill-class mining ship[1] or Springhill-class transport,[2] (hull classification symbol: CFM)[3] was a civilian[4] mining classification of human starship.[1]
Overview
Design details
The Springhill-class has at least two engines.[3] It also has two towering docking rigs on both the port and starboard sides.[1] The docking rigs were large enough to house a HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL Mark II (D) Geyrion in a UNSC retrofit of the class.[3]
Service history
At some point, at least one ship of the class, the CAA Heavy Burden, was under the control of the Colonial Administration Authority (CAA). It would eventually fall into the hands of the United Nations Space Command (UNSC) and was retrofitted into an ordnance transport ship. The Springhill-class mining ships saw extensive use during the early Human-Covenant war, though the Heavy Burden served until the Battle of Kholo in 2539.[1]
