Skeids are a type of space warship in the service of the Banished.

Overview

Design details

Skeids are long, narrow ships, designed explicitly for assault. They have dense armor plating covering their flanks, though their smaller size and use means that they are still relatively easily taken out by capital ship-grade weaponry. During the Battle of Earth (2559), a skeid was eliminated in one shot by the SARISSA Magnetic Accelerator Cannon of UNSC Victory of Samothrace, a Valiant-class super-heavy cruiser.

Operational history

Skeids were a major part of the 1,328-strong Banished armada organised under War Chief Severan in late 2559, alongside dreadnoughts, karves, and holks. They were used as part of the War Chief's mass assault on Earth on December 12 of that year, as well as during the Battle of Boundary two days later.

Trivia

Skeids were a type of longship used by the Vikings, following a precedent set with other Banished ships for naming their vessels in a similar manner.
