The Assault Rifle is a weapon featured in the multiplayer component of Halo 2: Anniversary. The weapon was not featured in the original Halo 2 due to its replacement by the SMG, but was reintroduced in Anniversary. As the game is built on the Halo 4 iteration of the Blam engine, the Assault Rifle in this game shares many attributes with the variant from that game.

Universe and lore

Main article: MA5D assault rifle

In Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer, the Assault Rifle featured is the MA5D assault rifle; a 7.62x51mm rifle in the MA5 series utilised by the United Nations Space Command. It is the successor to the MA5B model and MA5C models featured in prior games.

Multiplayer

The Assault Rifle is featured in Anniversary multiplayer in a similar capacity to prior games. It is a common loadout weapon and useful for engaging foes at close-medium range.
