Skins are a component of player customization present in the multiplayer portion of Halo 2: Anniversary. They were implemented for use within Halo: The Master Chief Collection during the Series 9 update, and work in a similar fashion to the skin systems of Combat Evolved and Halo 3.[1][2]
Overview[edit]
Weapon skins within Halo 2: Anniversary function similarly to those found within Halo: The Master Chief Collection's versions of Combat Evolved or Halo 3, with the player being able to select skins from five weapons in the Anniversary weapon roster. Like other newly implemented skin systems in The Master Chief Collection, picking up a new or dropped weapon will override it with the player's current selection, an improvement upon Halo 4, Halo 5, and Halo Infinite's version of the skin system.
Unlike prior releases for The Master Chief Collection, all of Halo 2: Anniversary's skins were initially released through The Exchange in waves from Series 9's release in August of 2022 through to the very beginning of 2023. After this, they would make sporadic reappearances within the Exchange.
