Rdomnai Keep

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

Rdomnai Keep is the keep and base of operations on Installation 07 for Jega 'Rdomnai, a Sangheili blademaster and Spartan Killer serving the Banished.[1]

Overview[edit]

"This is Jega's home away from home, all right. Multiple levels, a maze of tunnels. It’s a good thing you've got me to weed through this mess."
Joyeuse to John-117.[1]

Rdomnai Keep is located on an island fragment southeast of House of Reckoning. The island fragment is marked by a single, pointed mountain peak in its center, with a small lake basin at its base.[1] On the southern side of the mountain, the landscape morphed into an inhospitable morass of jagged black rock, leading into a sparse alpine forest.[2] A crack along the island's edge on the far side of the basin created a waterfall that flows into the void of space. The entrance to Rdomnai Keep itself is a three-story-tall jagged opening, which is hidden by the waterfall and its vapor cloud. The interior is a series of caverns and cracks that opened between the bedrock and alloy support layers when the ring fractured six months prior.[1] The caverns were connected by both natural and excavated tunnels.[3]

The main cavern has two massive beams had broken through the bedrock and bisected the chamber. It is set up as a two-floored hangar bay; the main floor holds Jega Rdomnai's personal Phantom, while the second partial level——a large ledge curving around the back side of the cavern—held a pair of consoles and serves as a motor pool for other vehicles like Ghosts, Banshees, Prowlers, and Choppers. Two entry stations with shield walls are set near the cavern entrance.[1]

Prefabricated holding cells were erected deeper inside the caverns. They are located in a long rectangular chamber cut out from the rock. In one corner of this chamber, a hex beam diagonally dissected the space, punching up through the floor in the far corner and piercing the ceiling on the opposite side of the chamber. The chamber is dimly lit by sporadic red plasma lighting hanging from the ceiling, while as modular set of holding cells are erected against the wall. The center of the room is a torture machine, which runs on the same power conduit as the holding cells.[3]

The stronghold's command center hosts a command table and holoscreens. The command center also has Jega 'Rdomnai's personal console, where he deposited the charred and damaged combat knife that once belonged to Jonah-B283.[4]

History[edit]

On June 5, 2560, after a confrontation with Val 'Hasumai at the funeral of Escharum, Jega took Browning to his Phantom, which narrowly escaped the blast of an Eris nuke planted by the Master Chief and fled to Rdomnai Keep. Unbeknownst to Jega Rdomnai, his Phantom was followed by a Sentinel hijacked by Joyeuse as well as the D77 Pelican Echo 216.[5]
