Pilgrims' Pride was a human civilian freighter in operation up to some time before 2558.[2]

History[edit]

As part of a plot to kill Fleet Admiral Terrence Hood, insurrectionist Daniel Clayton and mercenary Vata 'Gajat launched the Pilgrims' Pride from Oth Lodon in March 2558, a gas giant in the middle of Jiralhanae territory.[1] In March 11, a distress signal broadcasted on an old maritime channel was picked up by the UNSC Infinity. The signal was found to be originating from the Pilgrims' Pride near the Artesia-702 system and Chaudier trade route. When Infinity arrived in the system, it found the damaged freighter leaking atomic matter with faint life signs aboard. Infinity tugged the ship into one of its deployment bays. An ambush was sprung within the bay when the freighter set itself to self-destruct and multiple UNSC aircraft exited its cargo bay. Fireteam Majestic was deployed along with Fireteams Colossus and Fenrir to repel the attack and prevent the freighter from self-destructing inside the Infinity.[2]

When the attackers went into retreat, Fleet Admiral Hood ordered their F-41 Broadswords to provide cover for the Pelican tugs as they pulled the freighter out the deployment bay. The Spartans survived the detonation by ejecting the ship's core just before it exploded inside the ship. Following the skirmish, Infinity's after action teams discovered that the freighter's assault crafts were those attached to a long-lost warship, the UNSC Spirit of Fire.[2]

Production notes[edit]

The design for Pilgrim's Pride was done by Nicolas "Sparth" Bouvier, former art director at 343 Industries. The early sketches (shown below) were later posted by him online alongside his other concept work for various spacecraft featured in Halo 5: Guardians, such as the Star Charter-class colony support ship.[3]
