Biography[edit]

Military service[edit]

After enlisting in the UNSC Navy, Alonso Quijano eventually rose to the rank of Petty Officer, Third Class. Quijano came to be stationed aboard the UNSC Infinity prior to December 12, 2559, serving as a flight engineer for the crew of Pelican Echo 216. For this purpose, Quijano possessed a keycard authorizing access to Echo 216's systems, as well as various services aboard the Infinity, including MWR, commissary, and unlimited exchange. The keycard was set to expire on April 23, 2566.[1]

Battle for Zeta Halo[edit]

During the Banished assault on the Infinity over Installation 07, Fernando Esparza collected Alonso Quijano's keycard, using it to gain access to Pelican Echo 216 and its systems as he escaped the Infinity and in the ensuing months.[1] It is unknown if Quijano survived the attack on the Infinity, or the following Battle for Zeta Halo.

Trivia[edit]

  • Alonso Quijano is the actual name of the fictional character and eponymous protagonist of the novel The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha.
    • In the novel, Alonso Quijano famously pretends to be a knight-errant, longing for the days of chivalry and knightly deeds. This is perhaps a reference to Fernando Esparza, a civilian contractor, pretending to be a UNSC pilot when he first meets John-117, or even how he carries around a holorecording of another man's wife and daughter to remind him of better times. Similar to Esparza, who revealed his name at the end of Halo Infinite's campaign, Alonso Quijano's name was revealed at the end of the second volume.
    • Alonso Quijano is the second character in the Halo series named after Don Quixote. The first is Dimkee Hotay, an Unggoy who appears in Halo 5: Guardians.
