Prison ships are vessels used for transporting prisoners, ore, and other resources between penal colonies. Such vessels are often converted from a certain type of large freighter. As a precaution against uprisings, most prison ships have minimal defenses and minimal firearms on board. They often rely on an escort for protection.[1] Prison ships are also equipped with sealed safe rooms where the personnel can evacuate in the event of an uncontrollable riot.
