Article Title?[edit]

Hey, I was just wondering, does this article need to be called simply the "Pod"? To me, using just the word "pod" just seems too generic. "Pod" could mean anything. While I'm not saying that pod isn't good enough, and I'm pretty sure I may have heard one of the characters in Halo Wars refer to them simply as "pods", but, on the flip side, it just seems to lack a worthy title as to the hinting at the purpose of the Pod. In light of this, if I may be so bold, to propose a conjectural title as befitting the Pod's purpose--deployment of materiél, vehicles and troops; thus it should be called something like "Deployment Pod". As I said, the new article title I'm proposing as entirely conjectural, as the Halo Essential Visual Guide does not or fails to offer any further information as to the official, canon name of this as-yet-to-be-identified vehicle, and the vehicle's purpose other than what we already know from the Halo Wars RTS video game and its accompanying strategy game guide, unless some of us forgot to read the guide for further information, which seems doubtful and unlikely. If someone could go and do a little more research using the available materials and reference books and be able to supply a more legitimate article title that is in keeping with the name "Pod", but with something less generic and more specific as to its nature as a heavy dropship of sorts, a "deployment pod", or something, anything at all, that would or might reveal what this thing is really called. Or failing that, we could do either one of three things: we could keep the original article title, or go with a somewhat conjectural article title, or just forget the whole discussion and drop the matter entirely. Overall, I just think this could use some change. --Xamikaze330 18:01, 6 February 2012 (EST)Xamikaze330

Scaling the Pod[edit]

Someone who is considerably more computer savvy than me will have to do this, but I think I know of a way we can work out the Pod's length and height: By taking this profile shot of the Spirit of Fire, which we know to be 2.5km long, would it not be possible to work out the length and height of one of the five Pods docked on the side? Failing that, there's always this shot, but the Pods are less visible.--The All-knowing Sith'ari 06:48, 16 November 2012 (EST)

Very late to this party, but the methodology is good, but the Herons are parked with their noses out. They pull out and then turn. So while this number a little off from actual, it depicts the width of the Heron, not the length. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 10:58, October 16, 2021 (EDT)
Thanks for this! I've updated the article appropriately.BaconShelf (talk) 11:02, October 16, 2021 (EDT)

The Spirit's Pods[edit]

Does the Spirit have ten of these still when arriving at the Ark? We clearly saw half of them get destroyed when that Covenant destroyer hit the ship in Halo Wars when it entered the shield world. Should we assume this is a retcon?262VigilantGuardian (talk) 01:06, 2 March 2017 (EST)

Well, as per the newest Loot Crate and the Phoenix Logs, we do know the SoF has the capability to construct new vehicles and other materiel. Granted, the Herons seem a big extensive for onboard factories, but that's probably the explanation. --Jugus (talk) 05:50, 2 March 2017 (EST)
