The Eliminator Beam is a weapon that was first made usable in Halo 2. It is a variant of the standard Sentinel Beam found exclusively in the game's campaign levels.

Alongside being one of the few weapons in Halo 2 to not be useable in multiplayer, it is the only usable weapon in Halo 2 that was not utilised in the multiplayer component of Halo 2: Anniversary.

Universe and lore[edit]

Main article: Sentinel beam

Sentinel Beams are sterilization weapons used by the eponymous Sentinels for Flood containment. In Halo 2 and Halo 2: Anniversary, the Eliminator Beam is fired by the gold Aggressor Sentinel Eliminators, opposed to the Sentinel Beam fired by Sentinels that fires an orange beam.

In both Halo 2 and Anniversary the weapon reuses the model and texture of the standard Sentinel Beam, with the only differentiator being the gold tint and firing effects.

Campaign[edit]

The Eliminator Beam appears in Halo 2 on the levels Sacred Icon and Quarantine Zone. It is typically found as the weapon used by the Aggressor Sentinel Eliminators or by Flood combat forms wielding stolen weapons. Visually the weapon resembles the standard Sentinel Beam with a reused model and texture, but instead fires a bright blue beam compared to the standard Sentinel Beam's orange-gold.

Mechanically the Eliminator Beam is almost identical to the regular Sentinel Beam, with the main differences being:

  • The Eliminator Beam does 3 damage to the Sentinel Beam's 2.
  • The Eliminator Beam has 4.5% heat generation per-second, compared to the Sentinel Beam's 4%.

These differences make the weapon do slightly more damage at the cost of overheating faster.
