Golden crabs

Halo: Campaign Evolved features hidden golden crabs which can be discovered in areas that are physically inaccessible to the player. To view these secret out-of-bounds easter eggs, players must use the game's built-in machinima camera mode to bypass the map and skybox barriers.

Campaign[edit]
The Pillar of Autumn[edit]
- Location: Rally Point Alpha
In the first level The Pillar of Autumn, a golden crab is located on the bridge's observation deck. While the player can barely catch a glimpse of it by jumping up and looking out the window, entering free cam allows them to go outside the ship and see the golden crab sitting directly on a defense turret. Players can jump on top the display next to Captain Keyes and clip through the ceiling to escape the Autumn.
Halo[edit]
- Location: Rally Point Alpha
In the second level Halo, a golden crab is located at the very top of the initial Forerunner beacon tower. Even if the player uses the Acrophobia skull to fly up the structure, an invisible barrier will block their path. Bypassing the barrier in free cam reveals the golden crab sitting at the tower's summit.
Assault on the Control Room[edit]
- Location: Rally Point Alpha
In the fifth level Assault on the Control Room, a golden crab is located at the start in the large Forerunner dome cavern. The crab rests down below on the third light arch rotating around the center shaft spire. This crab can be found with the Acrophobia skull; however the player will be unable to stand on the rotating arch.
Keyes[edit]
- Location: Rally Point Alpha
In the ninth level Keyes, a golden crab is located inside the inaccessible control room of the Truth and Reconciliation at the very start. Entering freecam mode while pushing back behind the corner of the third locked door will clip the camera directly through into the room. The golden crab rests on the floor of the bridge platform.
Bonus Missions[edit]
The Most Dangerous Game[edit]
- Location: Rally Point Bravo
On the second bonus mission The Most Dangerous Game, a golden crab is located on a gold and white structure beyond the playable space of the level. To view this crab, it is recommended to pick up a Sniper Rifle from the room where the Recession Skull can be found and proceed through the level until you reach the area where Sgt. Johnson asks, "Chief, you ever get tired of being the strong, almost-silent type?" From here, walk to the platform where a Spirit dropped off enemies to be dispatched and look into the distance. The gold and white structure with a bridge should be visible, and from here the player must fly to the countdown barrier and zoom in above the structure's doorway to view the crab.
