The battle of London was a Covenant attack on the city of London during the Battle for Earth.[2][1]
Background[edit]
The Covenant's initial planetary invasion[edit]

The Prophet of Regret had discovered Earth two days beforehand and begun a groundside invasion of Earth at Mombasa in Africa.[3][4] Regret would flee the planet via slipspace,[5][6] stranding many forces there.[7] Soon after forces to loyal to the Prophet of Truth would take over the attack of the planet.[8]
Tens of thousands of people would attempt to flee London and the planet via Heathrow, Gatwick, and Luton spaceports before the fighting reached the city. Alternatively, many civilians fled to one of many fallout shelters in the city. The Office of Naval Intelligence would quickly contact the Beekeepers to try and deliver a military package to Waterloo Station. Holden and Laurette Agryna would attempt to make the delivery themselves.[1]
Battle[edit]
Opening attack[edit]
The Covenant would hit the city prior to 0200 hours on October 22, 2552. Phantom dropships and other Covenant assets would bombard parts of the upper city arcologies. Retreating UNSC forces would destroy Lambeth Bridge in the process. A fire would start in Westminster along the Victoria Embankment.[1]
Delivering the package[edit]
Holden would be caught in one of the Covenant bombardments and pass away from his injuries at around 0249 hours. Laurette would continue the trip to delivery the package on her own. With the upper city being destroyed, Laurette attempted to brave the streets. She would sprint down Milibank toward the Houses of Parliament as Jiralhanae patrolled the streets and aerial forces patrolled the skies.[1]
UNSC ground forces had spotted and fired upon one of the Phantoms, shooting it down and forcing Laurette to Bridge Street. There she would be forced into hiding as Jiralhanae, Unggoy, and Kig-Yar patrolled. She would end up hiding from their sight with a Sangheili whom the Covenant were also hunting. A Jiralhanae would spot Laurette and attempt to kill the two of them though only managing to get the Sangheili. Laurette wasn't chased, but ran into another Covenant patrol closer to the Westminster Bridge itself.[1]
