Evelyn "Evie" Rousseau was a high school student on the Outer Colony of Meridian when the moon came under attack by the Covenant in 2548.[1][3]

Early history[edit]
Evelyn Rousseau was born around 2530 to her mother and her father Mikal Rousseau.[2]
High school[edit]
Evie had her own problems to deal with as a high school student in 2548 before the Covenant laid siege to Meridian, but once her village went up in flames she found herself stuck above ground and locked out of the town shelter where other survivors had gathered along with three other students: Dorian Nguyen, Saskia Nazari, and Victor Gallardo.[1][3] The four youths suddenly were thrust into battle with nothing to aid them but a few scavenged weapons and an injured Spartan super-soldier.[1]
After being exposed to Forerunner artifacts on Meridian, Victor developed a genetic anomaly that prevented his injuries from being healed, something that his friends were also discovered to have. However, Owen-B096 proved to be immune due to the genetic modifications from his Spartan-III augmentations. With the permission of Victor's parents, ONI began the process of augmenting Victor into a Spartan-IV supersoldier in hopes that the genetic modifications he would receive would cure Victor's condition. The attempt appeared to be working and ONI offered Victor's friends the same option. After considering the idea, the rest of the group agreed to become Spartans, knowing that if Victor had been given the choice instead of his parents making it for him, he would've agreed to undergo the procedure.[4]
Spartan-IV program[edit]
By October 22, 2552, the four were a Spartan fireteam serving in the "Deltas" reporting to Sergeant Major Nolan Byrne, with Evelyn acting as the team leader. During the Battle for Earth, outfitted in Mark VII MJOLNIR armor, Evie, Dorian, Victor and Saskia came to the rescue of Laurette Agryna who was carrying a classified package for ONI. Evie shielded Agryna from a blast from a Jiralhanae Chieftain's pulse carbine before the four eliminated the Jiralhanae pack hunting Agyrna. Dorian suffered two Spiker rounds to the leg and had to be aided by Victor. At Waterloo Station, Byrne arrived on the Pale Horse to take the package and announced that Project OUROBOROS had been enacted and they were joining key personnel in evacuating to the Oort cloud, something that Dorian objected to.[5][6]
