Talk:War Games

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

Redundant?[edit]

Is this article needed? It's literally a copy and paste from the Halo 4 description of War Games with no change in wording. As far as I'm concerned, everything involving War Games, including the list of gametypes, can be listed under Halo 4 as it was done on the Halo 3 & Halo: Reach articles. If someone needs to find out about "War Games", wouldn't it be easier to link to the section under Halo 4 rather than having a completely seperate article stating the same exact thing? Its almost like when the different armor sets were listed under Halo 4, Halo 4 armor permutations, SPARTAN-IV Program, and Mjolnir GEN2 at the same time. Just redudant, tedious work, and unnecessary.--Killamint [Comm|Files] 16:14, 21 September 2012 (EDT)

Yeah, I would tend to agree with you. Makes more sense to link to the Halo 4 article instead.--Spartacus, Halopedia Administrator Talk 16:16, 21 September 2012 (EDT)
Linking the 'war games' section on the Halo 4 page to this page will allow the Halo 4 article to be shortened. This will prevent the halo 4 article from becoming too flooded, cramped and messy. Other sections on the halo 4 article also have their own articles elsewhere on halopedia. Plus creating this article is only the beginning. Off course it must be expanded more, and now it can because it has its own page. I does need improvement, but that doesn't mean it has to be deleted right away. This is just the start. However, I do not have the time to add all at once. Please concider this arguement.--Thijsbos 17:05, 21 September 2012 (EDT)
I still don't see any use for this article, however If you can shorten it up and make it more concise like the Infinity (mode) page than okay. I'll let you do what's necessary (as-if I can delete this page anyway). Just clean it up; all the references are missing and like I said before, the content is exactly like it is on the Halo 4 page. Trying changing it and making it shorter.--Killamint [Comm|Files] 17:37, 21 September 2012 (EDT)

Merge content with Infinity (mode) page[edit]

I think it would be more organized and concise to merge all this page's content to the War Games section on the Infinity (mode) page. War Games is basically a subset in the Infinity mode set so I think it would be proper instead of having one article that covers it in a section and another article that covers it in a page. Also less work in generating filler to make it longer. Make this redirect to Infinity (mode)#War Games or something--Ender the Xenocide 22:21, 4 December 2012 (EST)

I think we should go back to "Infinity (mode)" for all things Halo 4 (from a real world perspective) and keep "War Games" exclusively as an in-universe article. We simply can't continue to merge every multiplayer experience in the same article, that's three different games. (Halo 4, 5, and Online) Imrane-117 (talk) 00:22, 28 March 2015 (EDT)
IDK, it seems like every game's multiplayer is simply just covered on the Multiplayer page and said game's page.Sith-venator Wavingstrider Fett helmet.jpg (Commlink) 08:47, 28 March 2015 (EDT)
Since the fictional War Games has gained a lot of new lore since this tread was started (including the reveal that all multiplayer is part of War Games), there's quite a lot of justification for keeping this article. Besides, "Infinity (mode)" was already merged with Multiplayer at some point. --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 12:18, 29 March 2015 (EDT)

At this point we might as well move most of the Halo 4 multiplayer info over to the multiplayer page and or the Halo 4 page since War Games incorporates pretty much everything.Sith-venator Wavingstrider Fett helmet.jpg (Commlink) 04:19, 14 April 2015 (EDT)

Move gameplay to multiplayer[edit]

(Semi-bump) At this point I'm wanting to move the section in this article titled Halo 4 to the Multiplayer article. Else we also add sections for Halo 5: Guardians and Halo Online to this page. Neither of which have impressive sections in the multiplayer article either.Sith Venator Mega Blastoise.gif (Dank Memes) 22:12, 30 June 2015 (EDT)

Agreed, it will work better that way if you ask me. - NightHammer (talk) 22:19, 30 June 2015 (EDT)

History Spartan-II's[edit]

I recently went through a bunch of old trailers and came across this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpsqbTRYRD4

David Ellis states that the Military Wilderness Training Preserve had a Watchtower to watch "War Games" below(not in those words but you would get the idea when you hear it). Kinda a very specific choice of words considering the others he could of used instead of War Games.

My question is. Should I include it in the History part of this page. Or should I leave it out.-CIA391 (talk) 10:26, 17 August 2016 (EDT)

Nice catch. Yeah, go for it. Johnson's line in Halo 2 about "the simulations" is also relevant. -Japeth555

Well the simulations line could mean anything. From something like the UNSC Tactical Simulator or even Historical simulations.(the latter we need to have a page on, as they are the Campaign version of War Games)
Plus with the "Halo: Escalation Library Edition - Commentary" stating that AI wasnt in War Games in at least January 2553. I am iffy about adding it here... annoying as it is.-CIA391 (talk) 15:08, 17 August 2016 (EDT)
Today, war games refers to military exercises involving military resources and equipment to test strategies and stuff without actual combat. That is almost certainly what the Ellis is referring to. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 17:31, 17 August 2016 (EDT)
