Science Team Gagarin
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
Science Team Gargarin was a scientific attaché aboard UNSC Infinity during the Requiem Campaign in February 2558. During the campaign, Gargarin were deployed to a region on Requiem codenamed "the Refuge", shortly after it had been cleared by Fireteam Crimson. While at the Refuge, Gargarin began to investigate the Forerunner structures in the region, with the various scientists of the group coming to disagreements on how best to approach tinkering with ancient technology they barely understood. After activating the technology, the team mysteriously vanished, leaving behind only the equipment they had brought with them. As such, Crimson were once again deployed to Refuge to investigate the disappearance of the team, where they uncovered several of Gargarin's audio recordings and deactivated the technology.[1]
Spartan Jared Miller theorised that Gargarin may have been transported through slipspace to an unknown location similar to the Requiem slipspace artifacts that had also teleported Doctor Henry Glassman away from Infinity.[1] Another science team (including Doctors Leslie Boyd, Emerson King, Devon Quinn, and Ruiz) was ultimately sent in to replace Gargarin, where they were eventually able to follow up on Gargarin's unfinished work and gain some limited level of control over Requiem's slipspace translocation grid.[2][3]
