Rio Keep

Rio Keep, known as meiruuch in the Sangheili language, is a restaurant in Sekibo District, Rio de Janeiro on Earth. It is founded and owned by Peter, a Sangheili asylum seeker that served in the Covenant until October 2552, after he was left stranded on Earth at the onset of Battle for Earth, when he escaped the destruction of Day of Jubilation, one of the two Syfon-pattern assault carriers in Prophet of Regret's Fleet of Sacred Consecration.[1]
Overview[edit]
While owned by a Sangheili, at least two of the wait staff and one of the chefs, Grubmaster Plomp, are Unggoy in August 2558. Rio Keep serves a mix of Earth food—particularly those specific to Rio—and alien cuisine. One of the national dishes feijoada, a bean-and-meat stew, is cooked with colo meat and Subanese spices. To the disappointment of Arturo Bustamante, the restaurant did not serve ramen.[1]
Bustamante later featured Rio Keep in his book Rendezvous with Ramen; the third chapter, which transcribed his conversation with Peter, was flagged by the Office of Naval Intelligence for a material audit.[1]
