During the [[Battle of Mombasa]], Walpole and his squad were dispatched from the {{UNSCShip|In Amber Clad}} from ''[[Cairo Station (station)|Cairo Station]]'' to relieve the UNSC's ground forces and to board the Covenant assault carrier, ''[[Solemn Penance]]''. Shortly after deployment, their [[D77-TC Pelican]] [[dropship]] was shot down over [[Old Mombasa]] by a {{Pattern|Protos|Scarab}} walker. After their Pelican made a rough landing outside of an [[Hotel Zanzibar|abandoned beachside hotel]], Walpole reported that [[O'Brian]] was killed on impact. He, along with his squad quickly moved out to get better cover, and headed toward [[Hotel Zanzibar]] in [[Old Mombasa]].

Like all ODSTs, Walpole is very tough and professional. He is an excellent marksman, and is not afraid of enemy snipers. Moments later, a [[Plasma grenade]] had landed on Walpole's helmet. Using quick reflexes, the [[ODST]] was able to remove his headgear and hurl it toward a camouflaged [[Special Operations|Special ops]] [[Sangheili]]'s position on higher ground.

[[Butkis]] opened fire with an overcharged [[Plasma Pistol]] at the Sangheili, as Stacker shot the Elite in the head with his [[BR55 Battle Rifle]]. Walpole was a UNSC Marine sharpshooter and Orbital Drop Shock Trooper stationed at Earth in 2552. He was under the command of Gunnery Sergeant Marcus Stacker, part of the 7th Orbital Drop Shock Trooper Battalion of the 105th Shock Troops Division.[1]

Biography[edit]

Battle of Mombasa[edit]

During the Battle of Mombasa, Walpole and his squad were dispatched from the UNSC In Amber Clad from Cairo Station to relieve the UNSC's ground forces and to board the Covenant assault carrier, Solemn Penance. Shortly after deployment, their D77-TC Pelican dropship was shot down over Old Mombasa by a Protos-pattern Scarab walker. He survived the crash, but his squad was soon attacked by a Covenant patrol.[1]

Walpole is named after Nathan Walpole, a Bungie employee who worked on the animations in Halo 2, including Another Day at the Beach.[3]
