Certain Affinity is a video game development studio based in Austin, Texas in the USA. Its creation was announced in December 2006. The studio was formed by ex-Bungie employee Max Hoberman. In addition to staff from Bungie, it also includes ex-members of companies such as Microsoft, Red Storm, Origin, EA, Digital Anvil and NCSoft.

Background

The studio's first work was creating the Blastacular Map Pack which included two additional multiplayer levels for the popular Xbox, Xbox LIVE, and Windows Vista game Halo 2. These maps, called Tombstone and Desolation, are remakes of levels that were in the original Halo game called Hang 'Em High and Derelict respectively. They were released for Halo 2 over the Xbox LIVE (Silver and Gold) service in April 17, 2007. Certain Affinity members worked closely with members of Bungie and Microsoft during the development of these two maps.

Certain Affinity also worked with 343 Industries to create the three maps in the for Halo: Reach, containing the maps Condemned, Highlands and Unearthed.[1] They also worked on the multiplayer maps included with Anniversary Map Pack. For Halo 4, Certain Affinity co-developed the game's Forge mode and its dedicated maps. Certain Affinity also contributed to two of the game's map packs, Majestic and Castle.
