A brigade is military unit employed in multiple military organisations.[1]

Brigades by military[edit]

Covenant[edit]

The Covenant use brigades or an equivalent thereof - with legions likely fulfilling this similar role.[Note 1] Most Covenant brigades or brigade-equivalents include a light company of roughly one-hundred Yanme'e to serve as scouts.[1]

Mesra[edit]

The Militia of Mesra had multiple brigade-level units. Most were destroyed during the eight-day Battle of Mesra.[1]

UNSC Armed Forces[edit]

Brigades are a common element in the United Nations Space Command armed forces, being employed in both the Army and Marine Corps. In the UNICOM rank structure, a brigade is commanded by an O-6 Colonel.[2] However in the case of the 24th Marine Engineering Brigade, a Brigadier General; Artur Pahlavi served as the unit commander.[3] Brigades typically employ around five thousand personnel.[4]

Brigades have yet to see significant mention or development in official Halo media. In modern military forces, brigades are usually composed of three to six battalions, while three or more brigades are considered a division.

Notes[edit]

  1. ^ In Halo: Oblivion, the only usage of the term brigade in relation to the Covenant is through the perspective of humans. As such, it is likely that these analogous groupings are given different, currently-unknown terminology within the Covenant proper. Legions have a similar personnel count to a brigade, making them the most likely equivalent.
