Veteran?

Dude, your not a veteran till you have served in battle. You could say I was a veteran of the air cadets if you are a veteran. —This unsigned comment was made by Canadian Reject (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Dude (I guess that's how we refer to people we don't know now, right), I AM a veteran - I served in the U.S. military. What I am NOT, due to the fact that I have never seen combat, is a COMBAT veteran - and I never claimed to be a combat veteran - in fact, if you read my page, I claim the opposite. There IS a difference. Next time, Canadian Reject, sign your name when you leave a message on my talk page.
Since we feel that we're in a position to declare who has veteran status, have you ever served in a military? Whether mine or the Canadian Forces? If not (and I know the Cadets program there; it's our JROTC equivalent - YOU ARE STILL CONSIDERED A CIVILIAN WHEN YOU ARE IN IT), shut your mouth. Until you have served in a REAL military, and not some little high school program where they let you wear a uniform and PLAY military, you don't rate to speak on the matter. Smoke My pageMy talk 03:41, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
I thought I did sign my name after my post. Also, the air cadets is NOT a high school thing, it is also a very good way to prepare you for the army.--Canadian Reject 02:09, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
It's high school-age children that participate. It isn't much different; you're still not in the real military. You are instructed on a few of the things that we do in the military, and yeah, it does prepare you for the real thing. I think more kids should have that experience. The fact remains, however, that you are still not military. You do not rate to tell someone who HAS served that they are not veterans. One thing you should've gotten from your cadet courses was RESPECT. That was very disrespectful of you. Personally, if you were my recruit or cadet, you'd have been thrashed for that one. Smoke My pageMy talkMy Editcount 03:43, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Is this even up for discussion? If he joined the military he was obviously willing to be subjected to harsh and violent conditions. More than you or I can say Mr. Reject. BTW HAPPY vetrens day! ~ UserWiki:Galacticdominator|~]] ~ ~ 22:08, November 6, 2009 (UTC)

Project MOS?

I have noticed you mentioned "editing in compliance with Project MOS" in some of your edits (mainly, those that deleted the Starting Weapons charts I put up in the HALO 3 Campaign level pages) and was curious as to what it referred to. The reason I ask is that I was preparing to expand those charts to show respawn weapons for multiplayer and noticed them gone. (I have not put them back up)

Ill-omened IP

Greetings Smoke.
I've been talking with Nicmavr about this anonymous user who seems able to change his IP after his last one has been blocked and keeps inserting false information inside the Mauler, Gravity Hammer, Avitus and few other articles.

http://halopedian.com/Special:Contributions/71.168.254.212
http://halopedian.com/Special:Contributions/71.188.34.157

http://halopedian.com/Special:Contributions/96.235.135.50
http://halopedian.com/Special:Contributions/96.235.134.133

I think we should block all his previously used IPs for an indefinite time so we may be able to slow him down. What's your opinion? Spirit of Fire 09:45, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for the intrusion, but all IP-blocks should not be indefinite. You can, however, block them for a year. Even if the anonymous user can change his IP, sooner or later, he will be bored and leave us alone.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 09:53, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, IPs cannot be blocked for an indefinite amount of time. I disagree on the idiot getting bored, though; they've been doing this for almost a year now; they usually target the Gravity Hammer article. Just block them for a year every time you see them, no exceptions. SmokeSound off! 04:48, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
It's the best choice for me either. Ok thanks. Spirit of Fire 09:00, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
If I may offer thought, It seems that he is not changing his IP, but in fact using other peoples IPs. See how the first three are all in 71. ect, the second and third are both in 71.188, and the fourth and fifth are 96.235.13 ect? He seems to simply be bunnyhopping IPs as it were. It may be that he moved after the first 3 IPs, and he is taking advantage of the new location. Thanks for reading.

Why did you delete my sentence?

"It is likely that a policy like Chinas One-child policy was introduced to prevent such an huge overpopulation."

This is just a speculation but it is likely and the entire "Population" section is also a speculation.

Ok thats an watertight argument I will keep that in mind.

Listen

This is not directly discriminative, you do not have any reason to delete this sentence. I believe, as well as several others on my friends list that you have in the past and continued to abuse your power as an admin by issuing permanent and temporary bans to Halopedians. You're edit reverts without reason have also caught my attention as... unfair. I will remain anonymous, and if your abuse of admin powers continues, this will be taken up with senior admins. 59.101.81.178 11:05, November 27, 2009 (UTC)

If you have to do your "work" as anonymous, obviously you have no good intentions. How about you reveal yourself. SmokeSound off! 13:25, November 27, 2009 (UTC)

I agree wit that 59.101 bloke, u can be a real asshole sumtimes.

As I am one of these "senior" Admins, I respectfully ask you to leave if you are to continue this incivility and hostility towards Smoke. and the Administration as a whole. Oh, and it's pretty obvious who you are, regardless if you edited using an I.P. address rather than your account. CommanderTony

"I agree wit that 59.101 bloke, u can be a real asshole sumtimes."
— 61.69.188.193

In my opinion, people like you continuously disregarding the guidelines and harassing other users makes yourself look like an idiot.

Nice choice to remain anonymous, but we still know who you are regardless. BTW, your spelling makes my eyes bleed. - File:Commander Silver Leaf.PNG|20 Nìcmávr (Tálk) 21:55, November 27, 2009 (UTC)

61.69.188.193 - This kind of crap is the reason I am an asshole, more often than not. Oddly enough, most Halopedians think I'm pretty nice. Go figure. It seems you and your friend here are the only ones who have a problem with me. As you are making the choice to remain anonymous, rather than reveal yourself like I told you to (as I said, you must have bad intentions - or you're a user I've banned in the past and you're just pissy because you were forced to follow the guidelines here), I am making the choice to treat you as you are - gutless cowards, set on playing mind games rather than solving any real issues that may have arisen from my actions. Do yourself a favor - get the hell off my talk page and do not come back until you can contact me properly. If you refuse... you know what will happen.
Report THAT to the senior admins! SmokeSound off! 22:34, November 27, 2009 (UTC)
Trash talking through a computer screen is pretty big. But I live too far away to do anything about it. "If you refuse... you know what will happen." You will send your admin buddies to come and beat me up? The only admin who is a legend is Manticore, Aussie Pride. Tony is a power hungry Asian, Subtank is a desperately lonely female and you my friend... Your reply says what you are in a nutshell.
You bet your ass that any crap you see me talking here, I will say to you in person if I had the opportunity. You're the one trying to be an internet tough guy here, what with the attempted intimidation (and I stress attempted - you are not scaring me or anyone else here). You're the one assuming that the phrase "If you refuse... you know what will happen." refers to me kicking your sorry little ass. Much as I would like to, I'm pretty sure the Pacific Ocean prevents me from doing anything more than spewing words at a keyboard and possibly shaking my fist at the screen. No, when I said that, that was a warning for you to either be civil or cease and desist - or risk getting blocked.
Hiding your identity instead of showing yourself and actually being reasonable shows who you are as well, pig. Oh, by the way... blocked for harassment. Some "abuse of power" for you. Go report that, will you? SmokeSound off! 05:02, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

4.) If you respect him and Halopedia, he'll respect u and wont be scary.

7.) There is no reason to mess with him.

10.) You mess with him, you suck.

11.) He's a swami.

I don't know whats up with all this stuff against smoke. From what I've seen on this site he's pretty cool.--Sgt.T.N.Biscuits 06:05, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

Bah, don't worry about them. Either it's all one guy, or it's a few users that I've blocked that seem to think they're going to intimidate me. What they don't get is that every block and revert I do here has a reason. I expressly state the reasoning for every block I levy - and for the reverts I DON'T state a reason for, it's either pretty obvious what the reasoning was, or it was vandalism. Yes, I screw up sometimes (Subtank knows, she's usually there to correct me) - this is really my first time as a sysop on a wiki. Everyone makes mistakes. Accusing me of "corruption" when you have no basis - and then continually harassing me and trying to intimidate me instead of addressing the issue in at least a somewhat civil manner - doesn't get you anywhere. SmokeSound off! 07:02, November 28, 2009 (UTC)
Meh, it's ochlocracy syndrome. People without "power" automatically assume that those who have it automatically abuse it. Not entirely sure why - perhaps its because they would themselves, and assume that others are just like them? Even I've had people complain about my actions, accusing me of abusing my power, though admittedly rarely - since I'm not as active now as I once was in days of yore, though, I just assume its because people have forgotten who I am. :P -- Administrator Specops306 - Qur'a 'Morhek 09:42, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

Deletion

I am guessing that by the fact you deleted a genuine easter egg of Halo 3 ODST and didn't actually try to improve it or leave any template messages to help show what needed to be improved, you are now racing off to play ODST to try and take a snapshot to proclaim yourself the Sole and only discoverer of the easter egg on the face of the earth (false) and that you found it all by yourselfsome (fruad)

Thel's Height

A couple of days ago, I changed Thel's height from 7.10 to 7'10. After a few days, his height changed back to 7.10, so I changed it again. Today, you changed it back to 7.10. I beleive he's 7'10 becease an average Elite's height is about 7'4 and having Thel being roughly 7 feet is pretty short. I'm not questioning about your edits, but are you sure he's 7.10? From what I learned from math, 7.10 is the same as 7.1; zeros in the end of decimals are not neccessary. So saying he's 7.1 is rather odd. Even the Encyclepedia says that he's 7'10 so that's some proof. --Ultra Force 03:33, January 21, 2010 (UTC)

Now, I do know I have only about over half of 1000 edits, but I would like to inquire about rollback rights here, on Halopedia. I have rollback rights on the English Wikipedia (see my rights log), and have lots of experience with dealing with vandalism extensively, and know when and when not to use the tool. Although I do not have much activity with vandalism reverting here on Halopedia, I do intend to get more involved in that matter in the near future, and would like the ease of reverting vandalism swiftly. 71.... and Forge Objects Subpages

I was trying to write lead paragraphs for the tables, but for some reason, all I got on that page was puzzle pieces. That never have before when I edited; or since. Here's what I was planning to add, while preserving the tables:

Vehicles: Forge Vehicles are different from Weapons in that they cost considerably more, and, expect for the Mongoose, are disallowed from some maps (For example, a Hornet is not allowed on Guardian; and a Ghost is not allowed on Construct)

Scenery: Forge offers such objects from 55 gallon barrels to crates to radios. Most scenery objects do not do anything, but a few can be blown up to deal damage to opponents or picked up to be used as weapons. The Grav Lift and Man Cannon can be used to transport people to different parts of the map. Many of the scenery objects are only available on premium maps such as Sandbox

71.105.242.55 17:54, March 6, 2010 (UTC)

What are you trying to propose? Expand the sub-pages? If so, please don't. The Tables used in the sub-pages are designed to only display the locations they are available in and the cost of each items. The links added within the tables are sufficient to redirect the readers to its appropriate articles to notify them of the item's properties and role and as such should be kept to minimal (but concise) information. With that said, feel free to add in your ideas to ForgeHub.com.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 18:03, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
They need intro paragraphs. Also, it mentions that man cannons are on several maps, but doesn't mention their role on Guardian 71.105.242.55 18:25, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
They do not need any paragraph. It has been concluded that such paragraph would be useless to a list. Forge Objects would be sufficient to notify users and readers on how to use the list. Also, Man Cannon's role is to propel objects into the air using anti-gravity, regardless where it is placed or used; why is Guardian's Man Cannon so special?- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 18:32, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
When he tried to add it in, it was blanking the page for some reason. I am looking at it to see what the problem was. That's what this is about. SmokeSound off! 18:34, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
Also, Tank, the problem is that Guardian doesn't show up in the table period, when it should 71.105.242.55 20:33, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
I would assume this problem is caused by your Browser, Wikia's buggy Rich Text Editor or Wiki Theme.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 20:37, March 6, 2010 (UTC)

Modder does not mean Mapper

If I am going to be referenced/linked on the Tombstone (Level) page then I do not want to be called a Modder, calling a Modder a Mapper shows how few people understand the difference and only spreads the misunderstanding. I didn't spend years mapping 3D worlds to be called a Modder. I bring new things into H2V, not just modifications of pre-existing data. Custom is the word. I did not put the link there, but if it is there then I will not be slandered when it can easily be fixed.

I have explained why I made such changes only to have them reset without question so now I have created my own account, you can contact me and see that I am infact Kills Alone, one of the few H2V mappers. We are few because proper H2V editing is a complex process when compared to HCE.

I learned why the formatting was broken and fixed it from the source, then read about minor edits. Not a new users fault that the formatting is so sensitive to edits. Why when someone makes a fix to the formatting they cannot also update erroneous information is beyond me. I also read through the rest of the suggestions on how to edit and it says that editors of the Wikia should not be referenced, it says nothing about mappers/creators not being referenced. But that is not the real issue, the issue is that I am not a Modder. I am not trying to abuse the Wikia, I respect its purpose. But if its speaking in reference to me, it must be clarified that I am a Custom Mapper.

A note for future deletions

Before deleting an article, please check if other articles are linked to it using Special:WhatLinksHere. If so, please perform the changes on those articles to make sure we don't have any red links. Since you've deleted the Category, mind cleaning up the red links? :P - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 15:54, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

Cool story, bro. User:CommanderTony/Sig

Ok, ok,i didn't got an answer.

189.124.209.133 00:31, April 23, 2010 (UTC)

Boohoo. Keep whining, or actually make an effort to improve. You might want to start by asking WHY I removed your edit. If you can't do that, get the hell off my talk page and don't bother me. And don't even THINK of starting an edit war with me. SmokeSound off! 04:05, April 23, 2010 (UTC)

You already asked. Then answer the damn question! And i can think in ANYTHING I want! Understood? I think he damn right understood. And I'll show you who's whining, Mr. "I-can-make-it-all!" So unleash the verb, why do you damned delete it?

Ban of 90.199.73.126

Hello,

As I'm sure you most likely remember that you had recentley banned me (yesterday to be exact), with the following information: The block was made by Smoke..

  • Reason given: Inserting nonsense into pages; ban evasion to continue vandalism
  • Start of block: 20:09, May 11, 2010
  • Expiry of block: 20:09, May 11, 2011
  • Intended blockee: 90.199.73.126
  • Block ID: #102953
  • Current IP address: 90.199.73.126

I do admit that that was in fact me intitially adding the inappropriate comment to the page, although I do think the initial punishment was slightly unfair it is not my current cause of writing this to you. The main issue is at the time of making the edit I was on Xbox Live, and I happened to of had some of the people in the party hear about being banned, with them being such good friends they took great humour in replicating my edit, they also found it even more hilarious when I was banned for evading although I do appreciate the fact that you've banned them from the Wiki also.

I understand that you may wish to still keep the initial 2 week ban, which I am fully happy with although I would just like to make you aware that I did not ban evade and it was in fact other people making the edit rather than me. If necessary I am also able to edit with this new account and you may find it justified to also block this account for 2 weeks which I am also in full compliance with, although I would appreciate if you could fix this small mistake caused by my immature friends.

Thanks for your help,
