Lieutenant Taylor was a pilot in the UNSC Navy responsible for crewing one of the lifeboats aboard UNSC Pillar of Autumn.[5][4] On September 19, 2552, she piloted the SKT-9 Bumblebee lifeboat Lima Foxtrot Alpha 43 during the battle over Installation 04, though was killed when it crash-landed on the installation's surface. While in flight the escape pod's air brakes deployed too early, leaving the pilot unable to slow down enough within the atmosphere. The violent crash killed Taylor and all Marines aboard, sparing only Spartan John-117 and Cortana.[1][2]
Taylor spoke with a distinctly southern American accent.[1][3]
Production notes[edit]
- Taylor was voiced by her namesake Jen Taylor, voice actress of Cortana.[6] While the character went unnamed in Halo: Combat Evolved and the original release of Halo: The Flood, she formally named in honour of her voice actress in the The Flood's 2026 reissue.[4]
- Taylor's original model from Halo: Combat Evolved is based on that of the "Marcus" Marine model, which is used for Sergeant Stacker. Chris Hughes, one of the artists at Bungie, revised the model to feminize her appearance.[7] In Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, she has given the body model of a female marine from Halo 3 with an according face model and retains an updated version of her helmet from the original game. In Anniversary, she shares her model with the Pelican pilot Foe Hammer.
