Oth Kattral, as it is known to the Jiralhanae, is a resource-rich planet currently under Banished control.[1][2]

Overview

Astronomical features

In addition to a star, four other planets or moons can be seen from the surface of Oth Kattral. A faint, greenish-blue glow—likely an aurora—can be seen in the nightsky, while meteors often streak past the planet.[2]

Environmental features

While the wider environmental features of Oth Kattral are unknown, there is notably a volcanic region rich with minerals;[1] this region is arid and mountainous, characterized by its dark jagged rocks and active lava flow.[2]

History

Covenant world

At some point following the Writ of Union, Oth Kattral fell under the control of the Covenant. When the Jiralhanae joined the hegemony in 2492, the Covenant granted this planet, along with other resource-rich worlds, to master-packs to rebuild their civilization from the destruction brought on by the Great Immolation.[3]

Banished control

Following the Covenant's collapse, Oth Kattral was taken over by the Banished.[1] The Banished set up a mining facilty and a monorail system in an arid mountainous region on the planet to extract its wealth of minerals. Like many Covenant worlds granted to the Jiralhanae, Oth Kattral was a prime target for warlords vying for its resources.[3] In April 2560, a Banished Chieftain enlisted two janissaries, Marley and Callie Calder, to defend the facility; Marley notably destroyed a dropship sent by a rival warlord.[1]

Production notes

Oth Kattral first appeared in Halo Infinite, serving as the setting for the multiplayer map Scarr, which was released with Season 04: Infection in June 2023. It remained unnamed until the Armory Infinitum entry for the Fuel Rod SPNKr, which was featured on the March 2025 issue of Canon Fodder.[1]
