Biography[edit]

Ivan Jiron was born the youngest son of Captain Lucius Jiron, an esteemed commander in the UNSC Prowler Corps during the Human-Covenant War. Following in his father's footsteps, he also enlisted in the UNSC Navy, going on to command the heavy frigate Get My Drift. By late 2559, Jiron had command of that ship alongside three other frigates of Battle Group Omega: UNSC Blank Check, UNSC Easy Does It, and UNSC Hazard Pay.[3]

On December 11, 2559, Jiron and Battle Group Omega were selected by the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) as assets for an operation to secure the Lithos - a Forerunner construct that allowed connection to the domain. They were briefed on the mission shortly before the return of UNSC Victory of Samothrace to Earth, fresh from fighting at Venezia, wherein they were placed under Victory's leadership. The combined task force was ordered to remain at Earth to assist in the planet's defence during a massive assault by the Banished on December 12, with the note that once ONI recieved word that their operative was nearing the Lithos site with a high-value asset, they were to immediately depart for Boundary to secure the Lithos there. If all went according to plan, they would link up with Admiral Jilan al-Cygni's prowler Akkadian and the Swords of Sanghelios carrier Shadow of Intent there. However, during the fighting over Earth on December 12, the simulataneous defeat of the Created at Installation 07 brought these plans into forefront, as the Banished War Chief Severan began to order the Banished to retreat to Boundary and secure it for themselves.[3]

Victory of Samothrace and Battle Group Omega arrived at Boundary on December 14, where they began to engage the Banished fleet in orbit there. Throughout the battle, Jiron kept in regular contact with Victory's Captain Abigail Cole, offering his own advice and making sure his ships worked closely with the super-heavy cruiser.[4] However, after multiple hours of fighting, and the loss of half of his Battle Group, the remaining three ships of the task force were engaged by Severan's flagship Heart of Malice. While Jiron's frigate and the other remaining ship attempted to cover Victory of Samothrace by firing off numerous Shiva-class nuclear missiles at Heart of Malice, the effort proved futile, and Get My Drift was completely destroyed.[1] On December 29, Jiron, as with the rest of the battle group, were confirmed dead by Captain Annabelle Richards.[2]
