Sergeant Forge is a leader available to play as in the multiplayer of Halo Wars. He was one of several leaders from Halo Wars to return in Halo Wars 2, see here for more information.
Universe and lore[edit]
- Main article: John Forge
Sergeant John Forge is a non-commissioned officer in the UNSC Marine Corps serving aboard UNSC Spirit of Fire.
Gameplay[edit]
Campaign[edit]
Forge appears as a selectable unit multiple times throughout the campaign of Halo Wars. He appears in two forms: the first as a single infantry unit armed with an M90A shotgun, and the second as a Gauss-equipped Warthog. If the Warthog-Forge is destroyed, then the infantry variant Forge spawns and from that point is used as a hero unit. As with all hero units, Forge cannot be killed, but if his health reaches 0 then he goes down, and can only be revived if another friendly unit is near him.
The Forge Warthog has all of the standard stats and abilities of the regular Warthog unit in Halo Wars. The Forge infantry unit has a special ability which allows him to mag-dump his shotgun in rapid succession, giving him great damage potential.
Multiplayer[edit]
Forge is a UNSC leader with a playstyle focused on economy, industry, and the use of tanks and ground vehicles. The apex of his force is the Grizzly tank, the final upgrade for the Scorpion, a heavy tank with massive amounts of health and damage output. To help his armour-centric playstyle, Forge's unique unit is the Cyclops, which has the ability to repair damaged vehicles and buildings.
Unique units[edit]
Forge has two unique units. The first is the Cyclops, which can be constructed at the Firebase HQ from a Tech level of
1. The second is the Grizzly tank, which acts as the third and final upgrade for the Scorpion.
Unique leader powers[edit]
- Main article: Leader power
| Name | Cost | Description | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Population | Tech | Resources | ||
| All UNSC Leaders | ||||
| Disruption Bomb | N/A | Disrupts existing Leader Powers and prevents new Leader Powers from being initiated in a small area for 1 minute. | ||
| Transport | N/A | Call in Pelicans to transport a small group of units from one place to another. | ||
| Heal and Repair | N/A | Heal any units and repair any buildings in an area. | ||
| Sergeant Forge | ||||
| Carpet Bomb | N/A | Use the UNSC Shortsword Bomber to devastate a strip of land with massive bombs. | ||
Economy bonus[edit]
In addition to the above, Forge has a unique Economy Bonus. All Supply Pads constructed by Forge start off as Heavy Supply Pads without the need to manually upgrade them. This gives Forge an upper hand in the early game due to his increased supply income, allowing him to get to higher
tech levels, build more buildings and units, and upgrades much earlier in the game. A unique facet of this also means that earlier on in thegame Forge can dedicate fewer of his base's building sites to supply income and more unit construction and research.
Forge's early game also means he can send
resources to other leaders more suited for early-game rushes and combat, allowing them to take the brunt of the early-game fighting while he focuses on industry and building larger armoured forces.
