Mission 1: New Mombasa Nightmare

New Mombasa Nightmare is the first mission of Halo: Spartan Strike. The mission features a Spartan-IV fighting his way towards a highrise where a Spirit dropship carrying vital intel on a Forerunner artifact was shot down by UNSC forces.

Introduction

New Mombasa. 2552. A Covenant ship downed by the UNSC has crashed into a highrise. The Office of Naval Intelligence belives the ship carries a data pad able to track a Forerunner object called the Conduit. Recover the data pad from the crash site.

Objectives

Head into the Park

Lieutenant Kwon introduces herself as a large battle between Marines and Scorpion tanks against Sangheili, Unggoy and Wraiths rages in a plaza. Several Sparrowhawks, Hornets and Banshees battle overhead. The Spartan-IV drops from orbit in a SOEIV. The impact compromises the Spartan weapons, forcing to continue without any. Upon reaching the park a lone Unggoy Minor is guarding the area completely unaware of the Spartan's precense.

Melee the Grunt

The Spartan-IV, unable to use any weapons, proceded to eliminate the Unggoy from behind with melee attacks.

Grab a Plasma Pistol

After taking care of the Unggoy, the Spartan took the Plasma Pistol dropped by it's previous owner.

Destroy the shield

A Covenant Shield blocking the Spartan's way was soon disabled with the Plasma Pistol.

Reach the Nearby UNSC forces

The Spartan-IV soon reaching a group of v about to be attacked by Unggoy squads.

Eliminate the Covenant invaders

The Marines and the Spartan are inmediately attacked by two Unggoy that are quickly eliminated while three more aprroach from an alley one by one attempting to flank. This is attack is quickly repelled.

Reach the UNSC green zone

As the Spartan departs away from the first Marine group, a Spirit dropship takes off nearby. Two additional Unggoy intercept the Spartan on his way to the green zone and are killed fighting the supersoldier.

Clear the area

The Spartan-IV finds two boxes containin magnums and assault rifles. A Spirit dropship approaches the area and a squad consisting of 3 Unggoy deploy only to fall to the combined firepower of the Marines and the Spartan. 4 more Unggoy walk into the firefight moments later from a building behind the green zone while a Covenant drop pod containing two more Unggoy lannds in the area. They are quickly dispatched by the UNSC forces.

Destroy the barricade

Upon moving on from the UNSC green zone, the Spartan-IV runs into an area full of barricades. The very first one is conviniently surrounded by explosives, which the Spartan uses to clear a way.

Find a grenade cache

Several Unggoy are roaming the next area. After clearing it of hostiles, the supersoldier finds a box with many fragmentation grenades in it.

Create an exit

Several Covenant drop pods land ahead of the Spartan. The Unggoy that came out of them are quickly killed. An ODST squad can be seen firing their guns from a rooftop. Eventually, the Spartan-IV finds his way blocked by a Covenant barricade. A cylinder full of explosive material on the other side is destroyed by the Spartan with grenades, instantly destroying the barricade and allowing passage to the highway.

Reach the highrise

The first section of the highway has more Unggoy in it, who die not long after the Spartan arrives.

Destroy the barricade

After the firefight the Spartan finds the way blocked by several cars with the first Sangheili Minor waiting just beyond. A cache full of plasma grenades help to clear the way.

Reach the highrise

The second section of the highway is guarded by another Sangheili Minor and two Unggoy. The Spartan-IV has little to no trouble putting them down, and proceeds further.

Enter the machine gun turret

As a large Covenant group approaches, the Spartan-IV moves to a turret deployed in the street to repell them.

Elimiate all Covenant attackers

Many Sangheili and Unggoy close in to try to stop the Spartan-IV while two marines behind the Spartan fight their own battle against Unggoy. After a few moments every Covenant attacker is killed.

Enter the highrise

With all hostiles terminated, the Spartan proceeds to enter the highrise behind him.

Trivia

• This is the only level in both Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo: Spartan Strike that does not allow loadout customization or the use of Skulls.
