Private Julie Martinez was a medic on the UNSC Pillar of Autumn who was in the brig when the ship encountered Installation 04.
Biography[edit]
Julie was a medic who was addicted to painkillers. She served in Xander's unit on Reach where, according to Xander, Julie was an asshole until she got two days in the brig for punching a sergeant.[1]
When the Pillar of Autumn arrived at Installation 04, she was in the brig after being accused of stealing a bottle of painkillers.[1]
Battle of Installation 04[edit]
- Main article: Battle of Installation 04
On September 19, 2552, when the Pillar of Autumn came under attack by the Covenant, Julie and the other prisoners were released from their cells by the guards and fled the ship in Lifeboat D13. However, the lifeboat collided with an HEV, killing the pod occupant, the lifeboat pilot, Shearman, Kelly Brand, Gavin and several others. The survivors escaped from the wreckage with the help of Staff Sergeant Marvin Mobuto and Corporal Paxton.[2]
The makeshift platoon began crossing Halo to reach the Pillar of Autumn's crash site. Julie shot a Rangmejo, mistaking it for a Yanme'e, causing a swarm of the creatures to attack them.[3] The squad then fell into an ambush by Morolaath, although they managed to fight the wolves off.[4]
Death[edit]
The squad eventually headed underground due to the chaotic nature of the section of the ring that they had landed on.[5] While crossing a light bridge, Julie apparently wandered off on her own and she was grabbed by a worm-like creature. The others opened fire on the creature, trying to save Julie, but the creature retreated with her in its maw.[1]
