Blow Me Away is a song by the post-grunge band Breaking Benjamin and is the second track in Halo 2: Original Soundtrack, Volume 1. The song was written specifically for the soundtrack, and was later featured on the band's 2004 EP So Cold [1] and released as a single in 2010.[2] In 2011, the song was remixed for the band's greatest hits album Shallow Bay: The Best of Breaking Benjamin featuring Valora.[3]
The song also earned success on music charts and as of 2021 is RIAA Platinum certified with over 1 million record sales after its 2010 single release, though is best known for its inclusion in Halo 2
Appearances[edit]
This track plays during the battle between the Jiralhanae, Mgalekgolo, and the Sangheili in the Mausoleum of the Arbiter at the end of the Halo 2 level Gravemind, though it plays with the lyrics almost muted. The music plays on a loop until all enemies are eliminated. The introduction of the song, with its characteristic bell chime, can be heard during the level Outskirts, before John-117 encounters a convoy of Ruwaa-pattern Shadows in the highway tunnel.
The track was replaced by Breaking the Covenant in the Halo 2: Anniversary soundtrack and corresponding gameplay section. The bell chime in the introduction was reorchestrated into the opening of Moon Over Mombasa.
