Background
The 340th was assigned to the Special Warfare Center in Songnam of the Kyonggi Province in Korea. They provide realistic training exercises for the UNSC Marine Corps, Marine ODST, and other Special Operation units.

The Clan
There are several Halo 3 clans that are devoted to respecting the way of the Helljumper. Many clans role play as ODSTs and base the structure of their clan off of the UNSC, currently there is a 340th ODST Battalion in the Halo universe which constantly honors the Helljumpers, and plays with the armor configurations. Most standard military regulations are instilled in personnel of the battalion, and basic and advanced trainings are organized. - They have provided realistic operational testing for new and modified weapons systems, such as the MJOLNIR Mark VI Powered Assault Armor.
- The 340th CTU is also attached to the UNSC Operational Test and Evaluation Center (UNSCOTEC).
- The number 340 is another 7 reference (3+4+0=7).
