Youngest son of Jul 'Mdama

Asum 'Mdama is a teenage Sangheili who was born on Sanghelios[3] and is now living on the shield world Sarcophagus under the alias of Bakar in the post-Human-Covenant War era.[2]

Biography

He is the son of Raia 'Mdama and Jul ‘Mdama, although he did not know who his father was as it is custom for Sangheili not to reveal the name of the father, so that they are solely judged on their abilities and not their heritage. He and his brother Dural lived in the State of Mdama and were taught combat by Naxan in the Bekan keep. Following the death of his mother, Asum went to the nearby fields to mourn in private.[4] Now orphaned, Asum was fostered by Kasha 'Hilot and assumed the name Bakar.[2]

While attending the Pax Institute on the shield world known as Sarcophagus, Asum became friends with Molly Patel, Kareem El-Hashem, and Gudam Keschun.[2] Following a class trip, Asum learned that Jul 'Mdama was his fthaer but continued to hate him partly for the atrocities he caused and partly for abandoning Raia.[5]

Personality

Asum was deeply hurt by his mother's passing. As a result, he chose to lead a life of non-violence, preferring to reason with aggressors rather than immediately settling disputes with force. This is exceptionally uncommon for Sangheili, especially males. His non-violent lifestyle and his connection to the Servants of the Abiding Truth have lead Asum to be an outcast among the Sangheili youth at Sarcophagus.
