In 1342, the Covenant discovers the Kig-Yar. Although the Kig-Yar initially attempt to resist absorption into the alliance, they quickly recognize that they are facing a superior force and submit, taking on the role of explorers and traders (and often thieves and smugglers). The Kig-Yar are also motivated by the potential trade and wealth the Covenant can provide.[1]
