I trust the person who put the edit there, and I have a question: Why is it that when I make an edit, you appear to be watching, waiting for it?--Shade 13:41, 25 May 2011 (EDT)

Edit Warring

  1. I wasn't ACCUSING you, I was ASKING you why you appear to be watching my edits.
  2. How was that user's edit "bad" or "not making sense"?
  3. He is not my superior, and neither am I his.
  4. I am not edit-warring, I am adding back info that people remove just because they either want points, do it "for teh lulz", or simply don't want to bother researching it, in this case, the SPARTAN dude who removed those multiple pieces of info and the minor info at the top of the page.

Actually, I think CookieMonstersayhello's edits are grammatically correct, as opposed to you... I mean, you past signature was "Forgive my English" and on this talk page, your posts lack in punctuation and sentence fluency... Well, "I got better" (Monty Python reference), but still, I think Cookie's edits are fine as they are. He is a native British, and you are an American. If you're saying that Halo is from an American company, so Halopedia should be using American English, then you are implying that Bungie.net forums should also be in American English. Furthermore, the existence of Halo International would be unnecessary. I'm trying to resolve a conflict here, but if I'm failing at it, please "PARDON MY DUST" and I will continue to be a janitor. —S331 (TalkContributions) 11:25, 5 June 2011 (EDT)

Stalking my edits again and being biased in favour of the humans

I swear to god if you stalk my edits again, I will report you to the administrators do you want history to repeat itself (and you know EXACTLY what I mean)? Because I sure as hell dont. So, please understand that the covenant do use tactics and strategy like the UNSC (if not more so) especially Elites, Jackals and Brutes, they do have a mind you know I mean 1 single Major Elite could take on 4 marines and still win so thats saying something. —This unsigned comment was made by CookieMonstersayshello (talkcontribs). You also should realize that None of your recent edits were undone by me. Seriously take it up with the people who undo your edits. PRESIDENT1234 12:17, 7 July 2011 (EDT)
You can't compare Covenant and UNSC battle tactics and say that one is better - they are too different; it's like saying that Bungie is better at making games than Ensemble, despite your most comparisons being FPS and RPG games. The Covenant military tactic is based on brute force and numbers - they send out Unggoy to their deaths to slow down the enemy. The Sangheili spend their time either shooting in the open or punching their enemies - that's nothing like the UNSC's tactics which involve shooting from behind walls and guerilla warfare strategies. Both the UNSC and Covenant are experienced warriers, but the Covenant, despite campaign successes, cannot be called "tacticians". That word better suits militaries that use strategy to limit casualties, not the Stalin method of throwing in as many as it takes to make it go away.-- Forerunner 12:28, 7 July 2011 (EDT)

So Fore, you saying even the Elites arent tacticians you told a different story to 90. MAKE UP YOUR MIND, either the elites are good tacticians or they arent. The humans spray fire and link it thats all THEY do. --CookieMonstersayshello 13:17, 7 July 2011 (EDT)

The Sangheili are smart - they just don't see the need in using tactics to defeat the enemy. Remember that they have little regard for personal-safety, thereby considering the majority of warfare strategies as unnecessary. Furthermore take note that they have shielding and strong armour plated uniforms - do you think there's a point in sneaking around if you'd consider yourself unbeatable? Cookiemonster, although the Jiralhanae can easily defeat humans in battle, they are not tacticians - they follow the standard Covenant military strategy of attacking head-on - they're only effective because they're naturally stronger than humans. So in conclusion: the Jiralhanae use their strength and the Sangheili don't see the point in it. However, also note that winning a battle is not automatically a tactical/strategic victory. Were the Sangheili to use the UNSC's more covert strategies like the SPARTANS (which active camoflague users use to a limited extent), then their Army wouldn't suffer such heavy losses.-- Forerunner 13:36, 7 July 2011 (EDT)

As for you HaloFan1234 youve been worse, YOU caused the argument, I have not been blocked for vandalism cause im still editing now. Stop golding up UNSC tactics or the covenant will continue to be golded up by me, who plays halo 1,2 and 3 hours on end just to watch the moments where unsc and covenant fight. The elites and brutes are very superior fighters to the humans considering the humans have spartans on there side, YOUR SAYING ELITES arent as smart, Elites arent as smart, ELITES ARENT AS SMART!? Question about making a new article

Hi there! Since you helped me before i was wondering if you could tell me if i can create an article similar to the campaign levels walkthrough guides, but instead, i want to make it related to the BOBs. This because the current article its just about where they are, and has no specific strategies to kill them.

If it can be done i have several videos of all of them (except for 2) to provide sources. Or if it can be done inside the same BOB article would be nice too.

Thanks!Siul S-249 16:02, 1 November 2011 (EDT)

Uh sorry for stalking, but Halopedia:Administrators seems to be a more accurate page. Bullet in the barrel of your best guy's gun

Well then, if Forerunner insists on it, alright, but I say that it's better to keep them. It helps keep an overall standard, and when there's only a single trivia point it causes the section to look like it's solely about that sentence rather than a miscellaneous section. Additionally, a new user might come along and not realize that one has to add a bullet to add a new trivia bit. Sure, it could be fixed ourselves, but it's best to minimize the risk of confusion to begin with. Overall it helps maintain a constant page standard. Mona Lisa

I placed some points on the talk page. I think we've seen the whole "between Halos 1 and 2" concept before... it turns out that it means "Between the end of Halo: Combat Evolved and the start of part 2 of Halo 2" (Remember that there is a big gap between "Metropolis" and "Delta Halo") Halo: Uprising "bridges the gap", despite the fact that it occurs before the Halo 2 ending. The whole thing is awkward as hell.-- Forerunner 15:47, 25 November 2011 (EST)

Just saw it. Though I can actually agree with both parts of the argument. Do you think there's any way we could get clarification on this from 343 or something?--Commander 光环的家伙1234 Talk (Contribs) (Edits) 15:52, 25 November 2011 (EST)
We used to send letters (read: emails) to end disputes; perhaps we could do it, again. My guess is that there was some oversight by the authors of The Mona Lisa on the part of the escapades of High Charity's defence fleet. I guess, if either viewpoint can be supported, we could, for the time being, note-out the "Battle of Earth" positioning and instead have something like <!--There is some debate between when the story took place, and so it cannot be confirmed whether or not the Battle of Earth had already begun--> Usually we just work-around these things. For example, the re-print of Halo: The Flood shows the Ascendant Justice being at Installation 04 when the Pillar of Autumn arrived; the original and reprint versions of First Strike instead say that it was part of a detatchment sent by High Charity to investigate. We concluded that the Covenant had reached Installation 04 some time before the Autumn's arrival and that High Charity had sent a scout group ahead of it while it made its approach. -- Forerunner 16:01, 25 November 2011 (EST)

The Ark's Destruction

Commander Spartacus, I reply to your statement to say that I do not understand how it is possible for a premature firing of halo ring could completely destroy a megastructure such as the Ark which is several times larger than a halo ring. I would like you to ask these questions to prove my point: 1. The Ark is larger than the Earth and is larger than some gas giants in our own solar system. If it is true that the premature firing of Installation 04B did destroy the Ark, would that make it true that a premature firing of a incomplete Halo in general would be capable of destroying whole planets or objects of the Arks magnitude in size 2. A halo's pulse in designed to fire a blast of supermassive neutrinos that are tuned to possess a harmonic frequency that would destroy the nervous system of any macroscopic animal. How would a blast such as this be capable of destroying a entire megastructure over 100,000 km in diameter. 3. Cortana's statement that the ring "did a number on the Ark" is a phrase that indicates that the Ark was damaged, not destroyed 4. 343 Guilty Spark statement may obviously prove your point, however, given the state he was at the time and the fact of the sudden realization his installation was about to be destroyed again, he may have said it to convince Sargent Johnson to not place the index and start the firing sequence. 5. During the short film Origins from Halo Legends, a part of it shows briefly Installation 00. If one looks carefully when paused, they may see the surface charred and with what appears to be firestorms spreading along its arms. This may indicate that the Ark was moderately damaged, but not destroyed. If fates could remain unknown or uncertain, however, there is nothing that actually show the Ark remains or it being destroyed nor does anything specifically show the Ark damaged but intact. Well this is my reply to your statement, I stand for what I think is true as so do you. I will not change anymore pages, unless this evidence show that the Ark did survive. Thank you P.S. I am the person who wishes to know why the Ark said to have been destroyed.—This unsigned comment was made by OmegaWolf (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Here are your answers. I will start of with this. Four sources have confirmed that the firing of the incomplete ring destroyed the Ark. That is a fact.
1.If the firing and destruction of the ring destroyed the Ark, it is reasonable to think it could destroy planetary objects at or near the same size.
2.It was not the firing of the ring that destroyed the Ark, it was the ring shaking itself apart and the debris from it that destroyed the Ark.
3.Most people interpret Cortana's statement as proof that the Ark was destroyed.
4.Sergeant Johnson told Spark to deal with it. Spark killed him because he didn't want another one of his installations to be destroyed. He also did not want the Ark to be destroyed. He was in rampancy, but he still was enough normal to know what a firing of an unfinished ring would do if fired within close proximity to the Ark.
5.We don't even know at what time the film of the Ark in origins is. For all we know, it could be before the ring fired. The fires on the surface have an easy explanation: They could simply be the remains of the ships from the Prophet of Truth's fleet.
I finally leave you with the fact that there is no source that states the Ark was not destroyed, while we have many sources that state the Ark was destroyed. Furthermore, the reasons your edits were reverted was because they contradicted previously established canon. For all we knew, you were inserting false information, which is a bannable offense. I am glad that you decided to respond to me, but please do not continue to add to the relevant articles that the Ark was only damaged, when we have so many sources statiing otherwise. Also sign your name on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~) and also avoid making multiple edits in an article. Please use the Preview feature before saving. Ark Destruction

Thank you for answering my questions. Now I know how the Ark was destroyed. I also did not mean to vandalize the article if that what it would be called. I just thought it was true when I thought about it for a while that the Ark most likely survived, but was severely damaged. Also if your wondering when the Ark is shown in the short movie Origin you must watch the whole second part. That is where I got the idea that the Ark most likely survived.—This unsigned comment was made by OmegaWolf (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

You're welcome. I watched Origins and saw that part and now I understand why you thought the Ark was only damaged. As I said earlier, it's likely that the stuff burning on the surface is the remnants of Truth's fleet.-- Commander Spartacus ~ ŤДŁĶ ~ ĈʘŃŤṜǏΒŨŤǏʘŃŞ ~ ĚṂДǏŁ 11:49, 2 January 2012 (EST)

"Unified" or "United"

Actually, both have been used. Has there been a formal consensus as to which one we should accept as the canon?-- 77.97.158.189 16:07, 22 February 2012 (EST)

The page itself (Unified Earth Government) is named "Unified". I do believe "Unified is the correct way. The cases where "United" is used I believe to be mistakes, as the novel Glasslands names the President of the UEG as President of the Unified Earth Government.--Spartacus TalkContribs
May I also point you to this?--Spartacus TalkContribs
My guess is that it was originally "United" - the marine corps associated with Earth seem to be the United Earth Space Corps.-- Forerunner 12:06, 5 March 2012 (EST)

Deathmatch

I guess that's because there are people who know CoD terminology better than Halo terminology, and deathmatch is CoD's Slayer. But then again, what are the odds of people searching Deathmatch here for Slayer? Then I realized you might have asked a rhetorical question. Oh well. —S331 (COMMission LogProfile) 10:53, 23 April 2012 (EDT)

We have an unwritten rule to not alter/remove talk page content. This is so readers can see older conversations as they were when they were originally written. If we were to put the conversations together, it really wouldn't make sense to people reading it since they were all written separately.--Spartacus (Talk | Contribs) 00:32, 24 July 2012 (EDT)
I suppose it make sense in a chronological sense but from a content perspective its rather frustrating and inconvenient. But if its a rule i guess I'll leave it. RussellofSwinhart 00:37, 24 July 2012 (EDT)

Re: History Logs

Is it really necessary for a relatively new article like the Supressor? I thought that since that page is less than a day old, we could just let it be an exception. But if we need to follow that rule to this degree, sure, let's preserve that history log. —S331 (COMMission LogProfile) 11:35, 16 August 2012 (EDT)

Community Record

For the record, friend: http://www.halopedia.org/index.php?title=User_talk:Spartacus&diff=prev&oldid=998477

Technically, by the specific words you used, you've broken your own rule in a rather serious way. n_n

Personally, I'm of the opinion that if the talk page gets too big it looks untidy and reflects poorly upon me, and figure the History section does a perfect job of archiving information for me. Never had this problem on any of the other Wikis, including the original Halo Wiki. Though of course that's beside the point, as I should be able to replace the entire contents of the page with the German lyrics to Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band should I desire. It's not like I even take part in community discussions; my goings-on are of no interest to anyone else. :P

Still, sarcasm aside, a silly rule is still a rule, and since I don't really bother with the community side of this site, I'll humour you and leave things the way they are. No hard feelings, friend, I really didn't know. n_n

Cheers! Captain J 23:23, 14 November 2012 (EST)

All is Well n_n

Okay, I might have pushed a bit far there, but there's no need for the harsh tone, friend, I assure you; I tend to poke fun at things I find silly, nothing personal or rebellious intended. I'll admit I did see the archival notice, just wanted to make a joke, as your choice of words was "you are not allowed to remove content from your talk page, ever", and there those words were, removed. I'll have to look into this archival thing, hadn't heard of it before I saw the word on your history, and it sounds like a very handy tool. Any advice on where in the help section to look for that? Captain J 04:30, 17 November 2012 (EST)

Another quick question if you don't mind: The current icon for Halopedia seems to be a sprite of Master Chief's helmet. Would it be better if the icon was a golden "H", or would that be too similar to Halo Nation? Vadske (talk) 20:02, 30 November 2012 (EST)
No no no. The logo is fine. And I don't mean to exaggerate, but I love it! What I'm talking about is the icon in the tab (of the helmet). I was wondering, would it be better if that icon was changed to a golden "H", or would that be to similar to Halo Nation's tab icon? Spartan IV trivia?

http://members.shaw.ca/laird2/temp/derp/interview.mp3

In Frank O'Connor's interview, he said that if a Spartan II in Gen 1 were to face off against a Spartan IV in Gen 2, the Spartan IV has the capability to better off due to advances in technology.

Can this be considered trivia or just put it under effects/performance?

Kal825B (talk) 12:12, 19 August 2014 (EDT)

It seems like pretty important information, so I think it would be best placed under the effects/performances section.--Spartacus TalkContribs 12:34, 19 August 2014 (EDT)

Thanks. Also, as for physical augmentations, Palmer wasn't specific on the substance coated on her muscles, but from what she said an educated guess would be it increase strength about 3 times, since she can "out run a horse". The average running speed for a human is 10 to 12 mph. This would imply that her speed was increase by about 3. But that's just my guess. Initiation was wickedly vague...

Kal825B (talk) 13:06, 19 August 2014 (EDT)

"Matériel"?

I was wondering if you can set me straight. Usually, on most wikis when I see what I perceive as an error I have no trouble with editing it. But this is everywhere. Perhaps this bugs me so much because I'm a french speaker as well. Could you allay my confusion? Thank you. AineoftheSí(coms) 20:39, 23 August 2014 (EDT)

If you're referring to the way it's spelled, it's because that is how the spelling is rendered in all the game manuals/reference guides/etc. I hope I've answered your question.--Spartacus TalkContribs 00:08, 24 August 2014 (EDT)
According to Wiktionary, matériel is a correct alternate spelling of the English materiel (which is defined as "military equipment, apparatus, and supplies", and is as such distinct from the word "material"). --Jugus (Talk | Contribs) 05:14, 24 August 2014 (EDT)

The Category:Melee Weapons and Category:Human Weapons have live links from the Category:Weapons page. Oscar-129's First Appearance

Heya buddy. I'd hate to have our first conversation in a long time to be an edit war, so I've decided to bring it here. In Homecoming, we see all of the five S-II escapees in a flashback scene (well, as I mentioned in my edit summary, one of the escapees only had his arm in the frame, but I believe it constitutes as an appearance). I would compare this situation to that of Benjamin Giraud (or other unnamed minor characters), although an article of Oscar-129 prior to the release of Hunt the Truth would have had barely any material to make up a page. In both situations, the character would have "First Appearance" in the first unnamed appearance, followed by a named appearance in Hunt the Truth. Thus, I think the list of appearance section for Oscar-129 would look something like:

Do let me know what you think! —SPARTAN331 19:20, 3 June 2015 (EDT)

I totally forgot about that flashback scene in Homecoming when I made that edit, but yeah, I agree with your point and idea. Long time no see! :P --Spartacus TalkContribs 11:36, 4 June 2015 (EDT)

Gallery

Hey Spartacus, do you know if there is a limit to how much images can go into a single gallery? Alertfiend - Team Chief 20:20, 4 December 2015 (EST)

To weigh in here, I don't think there is an actual set limit on the amount of images per gallery, but we should avoid putting too much. By rule of thumb, I typically try to have no more than 30 images in each gallery, as I find it tends to be a bit cluttered after that. It's not really necessary to fill up a gallery just because we can, especially when there is a gallery category. When a character or object appears enough (Master Chief or the Arbiter) and inevitably ends up with a lot of images, we usually try to limit one image to the gallery from each media source. --NightHammer(talk)(contribs) 21:49, 4 December 2015 (EST)
As per NightHammer. Plus, the more images there are in a gallery, the slower the article will tend to load depending on the connection speed.--Spartacus TalkContribs 00:11, 5 December 2015 (EST)
