Talitsa was first settled by [[human]] colonists in [[2460]].{{Ref/Reuse|Enc22}} It became a hotbed of [[Insurrectionist|rebel]] activity during the [[Insurrection]], seeing an uprising as early in the conflict as [[2493]] - one year after the infamous [[Callisto Incident]]. Talitsa was one of the lucky worlds that never saw a visit from the [[Covenant]] during the years of the [[Human-Covenant War|Great War]].{{Ref/Reuse|HB13}} However, the lack of direct Covenant contact did not spare the world from the war's effects. The [[Glassing|mass destruction]] wrought by the alien empire resulted in a catastroghic loss in trade for many colony worlds including Talitsa. The already-remote world's economic discoupling from wider human society did little to stabilise the colony among the active rebel groups and periodic uprisings.{{Ref/Reuse|Enc22}}

After the war's end, Talitsa went effectively independent, with no formal UNSC or [[Unified Earth Government]] (UEG) presence to speak of.{{Ref/Reuse|Enc22}}

The [[WETWORK-class Mjolnir]], a variant of the [[MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor (GEN2)]], was tested against the United Rebel Front on this moon.{{Ref/Game|H4|Armor customization (Halo 4)|Armory|Detail=Wetwork armor description|Quote=Experienced widespread use during the classified raids against rebels on Talitsa.}} During the civil revolts on the moon, Wetwork was instrumental in halting the growing dissidence in the colony's largest population centers by swiftly and delicately eliminating the leadership of several uprisings.{{Ref/Book|H4EVG|Page=171}} The URF established many outland redoubts sites on the world. Some of these bases were discovered following the [[Human-Covenant War]], but most remained well-hidden. In [[2555#August|August of 2555]], SPARTAN-IVs [[Edward Buck]], [[Michael Crespo]], and [[Kojo Agu]] participated in a [[Operation: COALPEPPER|mission]] at a United Rebel Front facility on the moon to recover the captured [[Huragok]] [[Quick to Adjust]] and his [[human]] handler [[Sadie Endesha]]. Despite Crespo's defection to the URF, Buck and Agu were ultimately successful in rescuing Endesha and the Huragok.{{Ref/Novel|HNB|Chapter=18}}

In [[2558#October|October 2558]], forty hours before [[Alpha-Nine]]'s arrival to [[Cassidy III]], the [[Created]] subjugated Talitsa, before the URF's negative to accept [[Cortana]]'s demands. ==Government and society==
Since its founding, Talitsa has been governed by the [[Talitsa Corporate Council]] - one of many examples of corporate governments directly running [[Outer Colonies]] under the UEG.{{Ref/Reuse|universe}} While ostensibly under the UEG, and even recieving direct UNSC military assistance during the Insurrection,{{Ref/Reuse|HB13}} by the postwar era the planet has been effectively abandoned by the UEG{{Ref/Reuse|Enc22}} - resulting in it being taken over by the URF. During the [[Created uprising]], the URF rejected a demand by the Created to surrender Talitsa, resulting in the planet being invaded and presumably occupied.{{Ref/Reuse|HBB14}}

Talitsa, as with the wider [[Sverdlovsk system]], is situated on the [[Via Casilina Trade Route]] - putting it into frequent contact with other independence-minded worlds such as [[Gao]] and [[Venezia]].{{Ref/Novel|HRen|Chapter=7}} The destruction of interstellar trade during the Great War negatively impacted Talitsa, plunging the planet into further instability.{{Ref/Reuse|Enc22}}
