KOBOLD combat drone initiative
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
KOBOLD combat drones,[1] also referred to as Project KOBOLD[2] and the KOBOLD combat drone initiative,[3] are a military research project conducted by the United Nations Space Command. Kobolds are bipedal combat robots that can be operated autonomously by an artificial intelligence or operated remotely via "telepresence",[1] presumably involving an operator using their neural interface to remote-pilot the drone.
Kobolds have much crossover with other UNSC military programs, in particular MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor and its relatives. KOBOLD parts can be mounted on MJOLNIR GEN2 armour cores with the use of specialised jockey frames,[1] with select components used by SPARTAN-IVs for their regular combat operations. These include the Chiron gloves for the Mark VII platform[2] and the TAS/PATTON attachment for the Artaius helmet - the latter of which used to collect data for the KOBOLD initiative.[3]
In-game information[edit]
Halo Infinite[edit]
Armor based on the KOBOLD combat drones is available for multiplayer Spartan armor customization in Halo Infinite, with the armor and its associated components being available through the premium unlock track within the Infinite operation pass. The KOBOLD helmet and its associated components are primarily available on the Rakshasa armor core.
| Armor | Manufacturer | Lore | Quality | Introduced in | Unlock requirements |

KOBOLD |
Materials Group | KOBOLD combat drones are interoperable with most GEN2 and GEN2 Mjolnir armor cores with a specialized "jockey" frame, or can be outfitted into a independent (and much cheaper) tactical chassis. The unit can follow pre-set directives in an autonomous mode or be operated remotely via telepresence. The former is preferred, to remove a major cyberwarfare attack vector. | Legendary | Infinite | Reach Infinite operation pass level 55 (premium) |
TAS/DIREWEASEL |
