Private O'Brien was an enlisted serviceman in the UNSC Marine Corps. He escaped from the Fall of Reach aboard the UNSC Pillar of Autumn in September 2552,[2] then presumably participated in the Battle of Installation 04.[3]
Biography
Fall of Reach

During the Fall of Reach, Private O'Brien was one of the Marines aboard Station Gamma above Reach. O'Brien, along with Sergeant Major Avery Johnson, Private First Class Wallace Jenkins, and Private Bisenti, were fighting a group of Kig-Yar in Bay 9 when MCPO John-117 and Petty Officer Linda-058 boarded the station to destroy the logs of the prowler UNSC Circumference. O'Brien and his team were evacuated from the station, and flown back to the UNSC Pillar of Autumn.[2]
On September 19, O'Brien was listed as a member of Marine Security Detail B on Bravo Shift on Pillar of Autumn's duty roster roster alongside Chips Dubbo and Manuel Mendoza.[4] When the ship arrived at Installation 04 on September 19, it was attacked by the Covenant, marking the beginning of the Battle of Installation 04.[5] O'Brien was presumably killed by the time of Installation 04's destruction on September 22 along with all other UNSC forces on the ring.[1]
Production notes
While the subsequent whereabouts of Johnson, Bisenti, and Jenkins on Installation 04 are known, it is unclear what happened to O'Brien. In Halo: The Flood, the Master Chief briefly encounters an unnamed wounded marine on the Pillar of Autumn who he remembers from an orbital station above Reach.[6] This may be O'Brien.
