Lifeboat D13 was a lifeboat attached to the UNSC Halcyon-class cruiser UNSC Pillar of Autumn in 2552.[1]

Operational history[edit]

On September 19, 2552, when the Pillar of Autumn came under attack by the Covenant, a group of freed prisoners from the ship's brig boarded Lifeboat D13 to escape their ship. Medic Gabby Collins convinced the group to allow her fourteen-year-old son Charlie to join them. A female prisoner and Shearman worked together to pilot the lifeboat which was blown away from the Autumn by a large explosion. Lifeboat D13 entered Installation 04's atmosphere, losing its landing gear and violently crash-landing after colliding with an HEV. The crash killed the pilot, Shearman, Kelly Brand and Gavin while another prisoner lost his arm and died shortly thereafter. In total there was eight or nine survivors while an equal number lay dead or mortally wounded.[1]

While the survivors tried to open the door, a fire started under the cockpit and battery acid started spurting. Gabriel broke into a weapons' locker intended for the Marines that the lifeboat would usually be loaded with and retrieved MA5B assault rifles. Staff Sergeant Marvin Mobuto and Corporal Paxton found the crashed lifeboat and helped open the doors from the outside. Mobuto revealed that the lifeboat had come down about a thousand kilometers from the Pillar of Autumn's crash site.[1]

After the fire suppression system put out the flames, Lucky and Andrea Green scavenged the wreckage for anything useful. The two were able to find ammo boxes, grenade packs and dried field rations. However, everything else was too broken to be of any use.[2]
