It was originally assumed that Yasmine was part of the supposed second class of SPARTAN-IIs, due to the conscription date given in Axon Clips Chapter 11. However, the Halo Encyclopedia states that Yasmine was one of the original 150 candidates for the SPARTAN-II program and was one of the 12 that washed out due to complications from the augmentation process.<ref>[[Halo Encyclopedia]], page 83</ref>

Yasmine Zaman was born on Coral and conscripted into the SPARTAN-II Program[1] at age six on September 16, 2537. She was a child prodigy who learned several languages by the age of six and was an expert at backgammon.[2]

On her fourteenth birthday, she and the other Spartans were taken to a laboratory to begin the augmentation process. She died shortly after due to complications,[3] and the AI Melissa was created from her brain. Her brother, Kamal, was highly affected by the death of her flash clone and as a result, decided to become a doctor.
