Mombasa Suite is the third track on Halo 2: Original Soundtrack, Volume 2. It is composed of Metropole (0:00-1:29), Broken Gates (1:29-4:16), and Encounter (4:16-6:41).
Metropole (1:29) begins with a flute solo which echoes the melody from The Last Spartan. It is joined by high strings which repeat the melody. A harp joins in before low strings take over for the conclusion, playing a variation of the Halo Theme. Originally composed for and played during opening of the Halo 2 E3 demo, the piece partially plays in the opening cutscene of the level Outskirts. The piece was reorchestrated into Skyline in Halo 2: Anniversary Original Soundtrack.
Broken Gates (2:47) is composed of three sections. The first section features light bass and heavy percussive beats.
