Long Night of Solace is the sixth track heard on the Halo: Reach Original Soundtrack. It contains the songs Kat's Plan, Displacement, Broken Bonds, Uppercut, My Heart Breaks, The Ardent Prayer, Belly of the Beast, Discourage the Curious, and Make It Count.
The track is the second longest track on the album, falling 22 seconds short of the longest track, Winter Contingency.
Appearances
The soundtrack is heard throughout the sixth campaign level in Halo: Reach, Long Night of Solace.
The seventh musical section, "Belly of the Beast", is played in the last wave of a set in Firefight, when Brute Chieftains or Elite Generals are deployed.
A percussion-only version of "Displacement" plays during the Legendary-only third wave of the "This Cave is Not a Natural Formation" section of The Package, the eighth campaign level of Reach. "Displacement" also plays during the latter half of the Halo: Reach E3 2010 Trailer.
Trivia
- The first and fourth musical section, "Kat's Plan" and "Uppercut" respectively, is obviously referring to Operation: UPPER CUT.
- The fifth musical section, "My Heart Breaks", is a translated direct quote from Spartan-II commando Jorge-052 when he saw Reach being glassed.
- The sixth musical section, "The Ardent Prayer", is named after the UNSC-targeted Covenant corvette, Ardent Prayer.
- The seventh musical section, "Belly of the Beast", is a reference to a chapter in the Halo: Combat Evolved campaign level The Truth and Reconciliation.
- The eighth musical section, "Discourage the Curious", is a direct quote from an order Colonel Urban Holland gave to Jorge-052 after the Slipspace bomb has arrived on the Ardent Prayer.
- The last musical section, "Make it Count", is a direct quote from Jorge-052's last words to SPARTAN-B312, "Tell 'em to make it count".
