During the First Battle of Harvest, he went on a mission to defend the Harvest reactor complex which also housed Mack's AI core. While defending the generators and Mack's AI core, he fled into the complex as the compound containing the generator came under attack from Brute Choppers. He fled with Jepsen and Staff Sergeant Byrne. However, he and Jepsen were killed by a Brute at the doors to Mack's AI core center. The Brute shot Habel in the hip, shattering the bones there. He then fell to the ground where Byrne caught him and was mortally wounded when the Brute pumped two more rounds into Habel's chest.[2]
