(I've suggested a rename since the current title is fanon. The best description given in the novel is "crystal cutlass". I'm not quite sure the weapon from Helljumper is one of these but artistic license could be a factor.)

Template:Rename Template:Weapon Infobox The energy cutlass is a Covenant melee weapon, primarily used by the Kig-Yar.

The weapon consists of a shard of pink, glass-like crystal. They are used primarily to dispatch enemies in close-quarters fights, especially when boarding an enemy ship.[1] They are similar to the UNSC combat knife. These blades house a complex chemical mixture within them that causes the knife to explode into shards when embedded into a soft target, similar to a Needler round.[2]

The Unggoy also use them, as seen during the fighting on the Tiara during the First Battle of Harvest.[3] Energy cutlasses were used by several Kig-Yar during the Battle of Ariel in January 2552.[4]
