"Dumb" AIs are a form of human artificial intelligence. Unlike more advanced "Smart" AIs, these AIs are created using "traditional" programming methods rather than scanning human brains. Consequently, they are more limited in their cognitive capabilities, being unable to express "real" emotions or learn about subjects outside of their specialized role. However, due to their simpler nature, they do not experience the shortened lifespan that is typical of "Smart" AIs.
Known "Dumb" AIs
- Auntie Dot [verification needed] - Monitored and assisted Noble Team during the Battle of Reach, and kept the team's members connected while they were embarking on separate missions.
- Déjà - ONI AI, served as teacher to the SPARTAN-II's, helped oversee the SPARTAN Augmentation Process. (Second Generation Dumb AI)
- Superintendent - New Mombasa Urban Infrastructure AI (Second Generation Dumb AI)
- Captain Teach - Navigational AI (repurposed for insurrectionist use)
