- Covenant forces begin to swarm into the Outer Colonies. For several years the war falls into a pattern: Humans win isolated battles, typically during ground operations, but at a horrible cost. In space, the Humans are losing at a precipitous rate, and one by one, the Outer Colonies fall.
- With the introduction of the Spartan-IIIs, the Cyclops exoskeleton is removed from service due to issues with its high power consumption and propulsion.[1]
- Hayabusa Powered Assault Armor is developed by Facility RKD and accepted by the UNSC Ordnance Committee.
- Siege of the Atlas Moons: Danforth Whitcomb distinguishes himself in this engagement.
- Battle of New Constantinople: SPARTAN-III Alpha Company receives a commendation for bravery in this engagement.
- Battle of New Harmony: UNSC forces win a strategic victory over the Covenant at New Harmony by locating K7-49.
- Operation: PROMETHEUS: SPARTAN-IIIs attack K7-49. The facility is destroyed, resulting in a UNSC victory, but at the cost of 298 Spartans out of the 300 inserted.
